Stress is something we all deal with. Some people have a difficult time alleviating stress and often times, stress will continually build until one cannot handle it anymore. Too much stress can lead to heart disease, asthma, obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, anxiety, and premature death. Speaking from someone who deals with an overload of stress on a daily basis, here are a few tips to cope with stress:

1. Get a Hobby

The best way to alleviate stress is to get a hobby. Preferably a hobby that relaxes you. You could try painting, playing a sport, reading, writing, cooking, knitting, photography, gardening, sewing, puzzles, and gaming. Having an activity, you can turn to at the end of a day can help you relax mentally and feel better prepared for whatever life throws at you next.

2. Exercise

As much as I hate to exercise, it is proven that it can help cope with stress. Exercising releases endorphins that essentially make you happy alongside increasing your general mood and relaxation levels that can help you sleep better and increase self-confidence. All of these things combined can lower your stress levels. Try out martial arts, yoga, boxing, running, biking, swimming, and dancing.

3. Learn to Say No

This is one of the hardest lessons to learn and I thank my mom so much for teaching me this. In order to create a balance in your life, you have learn to say no to some things. Being pulled from 100 different directions actually affects your productivity. The more you commit to different responsibilities, the more your work becomes less than best. Would you rather have fewer higher quality work pieces or more work pieces with a lower quality?

4. Sleep Every Night

I cannot stress this one enough. Make time for sleep. No matter how busy you are sleep is a crucial aspect of alleviating stress. When do not sleep your body cannot perform the necessary functions it needs to thrive. If your body is not working to the best of it’s ability, you will become stressed more easily.

5. Find Sources of Support

If you are dealing with a lot of stress, it is important to find sources of support. Whether it is God, your family, or your friends, finding someone willing to listen to you when you need to talk can really help. Knowing you have someone on your side can calm your nerves and relax you.

If you find yourself in a stressful situation, remember to breathe. Take a moment and focus on one thing at a time. You will get through it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
