Our days are constantly cluttered with the presence of others. When we are “connected,” whether it be physically or electronically, we are expending energy on other people. This is not meant to imply that human connection is a hindrance on us, but rather to draw attention to yourself and what you can provide yourself.
When we spend time alone, and I mean when we really spent time alone, (sitting on the toilet on your phone doesn't count), but when you sit in your room and look out the window. Or when you go for a walk, even just laying on the floor. If you set aside time and do this every day, you’ll be surprised at what you can do for yourself.
So what does happen? You get to breathe. You get a chance to decompress. Without the presence of others, you can finally recharge, especially those of you who struggle with anxiety. You are allowed to think about your day and process all the stress. More importantly, you will reflect on yourself. You will think about your decision and why you made them. An opportunity to be with yourself and just enjoy yourself. It's important to be computable by yourself because you will find yourself in situations when you're all alone and instead of feeling awkward you should learn to embrace the gift of being alone.
Without others, your mind can wonder more easily. To think about anything and everything. All my best ideas, all my best advice comes from when I take some time to just sit and be by myself. Above all else, you can just be yourself and do whatever you want. Even if you claim that you are always yourself and try and tell people that you don't care who is around, you do and it's ok. When we are with others we will always make compromises and hold back part of our personality or some of our comments. Yet, when we are alone there's nobody we have to compromise for. When we are by yourself we can be yourself.
