As the final weeks of the semester dwindle down, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about my roommate and I parting ways for the summer. I also realized that after all this time together, I rarely thanked her for all that she has done for me and put up with over the years. So here is a list of 14 things myself, and I'm sure a lot of you, have forgotten to thank your roommate for:
1. Thank you for always being honest with me.
Whether it be my outfit of choice, or when I am overreacting about something, I can count on you for always being honest with me. I can ask you "does this look okay" before I leave and can expect an honest answer. Most people don't do that, so thank you for not letting me go in public looking like an idiot.
2. Thank you for comforting me when I'm having a breakdown.
You've seen me cry more than anyone at school, and you do not judge me when I am having one of these breakdowns. Whether it be friends, family or school, you have seen it all and you have helped me with each of them.
3. Thank you for not being hard to live with.
I got lucky with you as my roommate. Other people have to deal with roommates who get mad at the smallest things, thank you for not being one of them. Most importantly, thank you for having the same sleep schedule as me. I do not know what I would do if you were one of those people who went to bed at 9 p.m. and woke up at 6 a.m.
4. Thank you for answering any and all questions I have.
Whether it be a homework question, the question of whether or not I should nap, the question of what I should have as a snack or just a general life question, you answer every single one. I know I can ask too many questions sometimes, but thanks for answering despite this.
5. Thank you for helping me with my homework.
Whether it be a class we have together, or a class you are not in with me, I can always rely on you to help me with a question about work. Anything from if a sentence sounds correct, to what I should write about for a paper, you are there.
6. Thank you for getting me food.
This one is an important one and I am so grateful. Thank you for the random food that you bake, thank you for getting me something if you go out, thank you for the trips to Wendy's, thanks for it all.
7. Thank you for taking care of me when I'm sick.
Being sick is hard enough when you're away at school because you're not home to have your mom take care of you. But luckily, I have you to give me cough drops, medicine, soup or whatever I need when I'm sick. Thanks Mom.
8. Thank you for putting up with me when I get to be too much.
You have to deal with me the most out of everyone at school, therefore you see me at my worst and at my best. Thank you for putting up with me through all of it.
9. Thank you not judging me (most of the time).
Thank you for not judging me if I take a nap or decide to heat up that mac and cheese at 4 a.m. Thanks for not judging me when I watch Netflix for an entire day, or eat a carton of Ben and Jerry's. And thanks for not judging me when my room gets a little too messy. Oops.
10. Thank you for letting me use your stuff.
Whether it be your jewelry, your nail polish or your clothes, you've let me borrow it all and for that I'm grateful.
11. Thank you for going crazy with me when we are stressed.
Finals week is stressful enough but having someone to stress out with makes it a little more bearable. We've gone through our fair share of craziness when it comes to stressing about classes and thank God you were always there with me to experience the pain.
12. Thank you for supporting my lazy habits.
Thank you for turning off the lights when I'm too lazy to get up and thank you for picking up things I drop on the floor and am too lazy to get off the bed to get.
13. Thank you for always keeping me on track.
If you weren't there sometimes to remind me to not procrastinate and do my homework, I could get lost in a black hole of YouTube videos for hours.
14. Thank you for always being there for me.
You are one of my best friends here at school and you have been with me through the highs and the lows. I know I don't thank you a lot, maybe even at all. So I thought I would take the time to thank you now. Thanks for being the best roommate a girl could ask for, I couldn't imagine surviving this whole college thing with anybody else.
