Things You Miss Being A Student Athlete

From fast breaks to hitting home runs, there's something about being a student athlete that can't be replaced. It isn't just about the sport, but those that play on the field with you. The team that you have played with for years have helped you score that goal or make that play. Not playing an organized sport in college made me realize how I miss being a part of the team that would win and loose together. Through the love of the game, it brought the team together, building each other up. We all came together to play our favorite sport and learn from each other on and off the field. For student athletes, sports are a significant part of our lives and will always will be. No matter which sport or sports you have played - lets take a trip down memory lane.

1. Team Bonding:

Whether it was inside jokes, laughs, injuries or difficult times, there was a bond between teammates and the coach. Being part of a team made it a family.

2. Fitness:

Remember those early morning practices? It gave you a great fitness routine. Practices were not only the time to practice your skills, but it was the chance to push yourself. You were able to not only workout with your friends, but partake in its health benefits too.

3. The Sport:

Thinking about practice made me get through some of the worst days. It gave me something to look forward to after a tough day of classes. It was the ability to play your favorite sport with your friends - an escape from reality.

4. Uniforms:

The uniforms showed that the team was all in it together. Putting on the jersey was like putting on your game face; you're ready to play.

5. Bus Rides:

Those long, relaxing bus rides were the best to jam out to music and get pumped up on the way to a game. On the way home, it gave you a chance to not only gather your thoughts, but reflect on the game as well.

6. Home games:

The best part of home games was the school pride. As you stepped on to home court, the cheers of the fans fueled your energy.

7. Locker Room talks:

Talks of pre, half and post game time. The talks reminded yourself how far you've improved and what is the next step These are the talks that resonated and can be applicable to your life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
