Because a bad day does not equal a bad life
1. You've gotten through tough times before.
The key thing to remind yourself is that you're going to get through this tough time just like you have gotten through times in the past. And don't say you won't because you said that last time and the time before that and you did!
2. You aren't alone.
When you're wrapped up in your own thoughts it's easy to think that you're all alone but you have to remember that you're not. There are people going through the same exact thing, people that have gotten through it and people currently going through it, all it takes is a little reaching out.
3. You really aren't a bother.
Your friends are your friends because they care about you. Despite you feeling like you can't text or call them upset because they don't want to hear about your problems and you're just bothering them, I promise you really aren't. Sometimes it's nice to have someone trust you enough that they choose you to talk to.
4. It's temporary.
Ever hear the saying, "This too shall pass,"? Yeah well, it's true... Everything is temporary, the current place you are in your life, everything you're feeling, it's all going to pass. You're sad now but you aren't going to be sad forever, you just have to be patient and ride it out.
5. If there's something you don't like then you have to change it.
You can talk to someone about your difficulties all day long but nothing is going to change unless you make the effort. You need to want things to get better. The good thing about your life is that it's your life and at any time you can change anything about it. If you don't like something about the way you're living then make those positive changes and change it now.
6. If you feed the negative thoughts they will only grow.
This is pretty self-explanatory, instead of feeding your negative thoughts you have to force them out with positive thoughts. Write down things you're grateful for at that current moment. Write about the best day of your life, make a bucket list, think of positive things rather than wallowing in your negative thoughts.
7. You are loved.
Yes, you are loved. When you're upset it's easy to forget this but you are loved, not by one person by many people. "Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole doesn't he?"- It's a Wonderful Life
8. You don't have to act okay.
No one expects you to be okay all of the time, you're human. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and admit that you're not okay; you have to ask for help, it'll benefit you more than you know. It's also okay to cry, good for you even (in moderation of course); you just have to know when it's time to stop. You have to know when to pick yourself up and keep moving.
9. You aren't thinking clearly.
Your judgment isn't clear. Fighting with someone while you're upset is never good. Anything you want to say can wait until you calm down. Don't make decisions based off of temporary feelings.
10. Stay motivated.
It's easy to lose motivation and wanna lay in bed all day when you're sad and while that might be okay for a little while, getting up moving around and being productive will benefit you so much more in the long run. Wash your face, take a shower, go for a run or workout, do some yoga, write, go run errands; do things that'll make you feel good. Laying around with self-pity and eating shitty food will not make you feel good.
