There’s something about a coffee shop on a busy morning, isn’t there? Something about the way time seems to be standing still as you cusp your mug and the commotion of the world around you seems to be moving at a pace that flashes before your eyes.
As you try to seek solace that last sip of coffee or, in my case, green tea will provide you with, you witness so many lives cross paths–the man who’s running late for work, the hungover group of girls wearing sunglasses and laughing as they reminisce about the night before, the young woman who is trying to get her work done as she types away on her laptop and unintentionally taps her feet to the music that she’s listening to through her headphones. As a regular at my favorite coffee shop in town, I see these kind of people all of the time.
I feel like there’s a certain air about the corner cubby of a café that my soul appreciates. It’s like a home-away-from-home. A place I run to when it rains to enjoy the warm environment as I read whatever book I’m hooked on that week. A place I crave to be when it’s sunny out and I can enjoy the bustle of the busy world from the porch seat outside. Most importantly, it’s a place I want to go when I desire to have those deep conversations with someone who has an incredible outlook on life. Coffee shop conversations are like none other. The way you sit there sipping away at hidden secrets, controversial topics and true feelings. It seems as if this is the place these conversations brew. You can have these conversations anywhere you want really, but it’s just not the same.
To me, my coffee shop is like my own little safe haven. A place where I can be completely and utterly myself with whomever is up for the endless hours of impeccable communication over a cup, or two–or even three–of whatever our cup of tea may be that morning. Embrace every sip.
