Ahh, good ole' South St. Paul, Minnesota or at many still call, the "Cow-Town." There is just something so special about being a Packer and it definitely has something to do with its special traditions that have stuck with the town throughout all these years. One of the most well-known traditions is, "Kaposia Days!" Kaposia Days is a community-wide celebration, and its purpose is to improve the quality of life in South St. Paul by developing a sense of community. Kaposia Days takes place on June 23-25th but also had begun to have activities take place earlier in the week leading up to the big events.
Are you a South St. Paul Packer? Do you want to know how to make the most out of Kaposia Days 2017? If so, here are 15 ways:
1. Participate-
How can you expect to have the best Kaposia Days of your life if you don't even leave the house? There are SO many fun activities that you can take part in!
2. Spend time with friends-
After all, Kaposia Days is all about bringing the community together and having a good time!
3. Start searching for the Medallion-
The Medallion Hunt is always a popular event, so you don't want to miss out! Get your detective on and try to win an awesome prize! There will be a total of 10 clues, and it will begin on Monday, June 19th. The hunt ends when the medallion is found or at 5:30 pm on Friday, June 23rd if it is not, which it better be!
4. Get full at the food court-
Enjoy some delicious food with friends and family at the food court before and during the Grande Parade held at Southview Boulevard and 8th Avenue. It is open on Friday, June 23rd from 5:00-9:30 pm.
5. Try something new-
How do you expect to make this the best Kaposia Days yet if you stick to doing the same exact things you do every year? There are always new food, activities, and things to see so do it!

8. Play family games and activities-
On Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th Marie Avenue will be packed with family-friendly games and events all day long (kids carnival from 10:30 am- 2:00 pm)! Some of the activities include a duck pond, bouncy-houses, Water Works water balloon toss game, petting zoo, food vendors and more! I also heard that there is a Hungry Hippo game this year!
9. Play some BINGO-
Want to feel like a winner? Go play some BINGO! It is held on Fifth and Marie Aves on Saturday, June 24th from 11:00 am-6:00 pm and on Sunday, June 25th from 11:00 am-5:00 pm.
10. Head down to The VFW-
11. Experience the classic car show-
Walk around with your buddies and spark some conversations over the classic cars. The car show takes place in the High School parking lot on Saturday, June 24th from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
12. Participate in the Cornhole: Bean Bag Tournament-
Packers have always loved a good competition! Starting on Saturday, June 24th at 12:00 pm at Kaposia Landing. Registration begins at 11:00 am, and the cost is $40 a team. They are only accepting CASH, and the registration is on the same day only. To participate, you have to be 18 or older unless you are accompanied by an adult. The finals for the Championship will follow the games at Kaposia Landing!
13. Head to the fields for the softball tournament-
14. Go to the Grand Parade-
Enjoy some food and drinks, catch some candy, get a "V" from a Vulcan. Do it all! Oh, but don't forget to set your chairs out in the morning, the sidewalks fill up fast! The parade route begins at 12th Ave North & 3rd Street, traveling south on 12th to Southview Blvd., east on Southview to 5th Avenue, south on 5th to 8th Street. The parade takes place on Friday, June 23rd from 6:30-8:30 pm.
15. Go to the fireworks-
The fireworks are another event that you must not miss during Kaposia Days! The firework show allows us to celebrate the end of another great Kaposia Days festival! They take place at 10:00 pm on Sunday, June 25th at the high school football field, Ettinger Field. You are also able to go earlier and enjoy music on stage by High Brow & The Shades, food, and fun! This event is also FREE!
