In my junior and senior year of high school, I spent many of my days after school at soccer practice. There were many times where I didn't feel like going and dreaded the difficult work to come. I just wanted to go home, take a warm shower, curl up to watch Netflix and devour some food. But I kept pushing because I loved the game. And now that my time is up and I'm a freshman in college, I'd do almost anything to be back there practicing so that I could play! I decided to mention some things that I went through during soccer season...good and bad.
1. Around The Worlds
Probably my most hated thing...ever!
2. Six Inches
Up, down, up, down, up, down...stay
3. Wall Sits
We used a partner, and it seemed to make it 2 times worse.
4. 2 Laps
Even though it was only half a mile, it sucked!
5. New Cleats
Like your basic shoes, you just get tired of wearing the same ones all the time. When you got new cleats, you just wanted to keep looking at them and show them off.
6. Shirts
I've collected so many shirts representing my team in just 2 short years.
7. Adidas Sweats
Just about every soccer player has Adidas sweats.
8. Slides
Just like Adidas, everyone had these no matter the brand and it made switching shoes a lot more convenient.
9. Bus Rides
They weren't the best, but when it came to away games, it meant food and I enjoy just cruising and listening to music.
10. Food
Speaking of food, when I'd come home from school, I could eat enough for three grown men.
11. Homework
Just because you play a sport, doesn't mean you can just drop school, balancing these two became tiring.
12. Busy, Busy, Busy
I was one who enjoyed many things, so another thing besides homework in school were early beta club meetings. My Tuesdays consisted of coming home from practice, gulping my food down, rinsing off (because I only had like an hour sometimes), and heading to youth group.
13. Friends
Thanks to one girl, in particular, I decided to try out and got very close to her and a few others.
There's so much more that only those who play can feel. To be on a team takes time, dedication, strength, and the ability to work hard. So many times I just reminisce and laugh at how I complained about what I was going through then, but now I complain that I can't go through it all again and play.
