Whether you went to Tally or watched it at the Rat, this game was one for the books and reminded everyone of how great it is to be a 'Cane.

1. Pre-game nerves

Whether you have been counting down the days until this turn of the century game or you’re a freshman that’s never even cared about football. When you looked at your watch and saw it was 3:29 your heart raced a little because you knew in a single minute one of the most important games for Hurricanes football was about to begin...

2. First quarter blues

By the end of the first quarter the Seminoles had scored a field goal, and the score was now 3-0. As I watched the football cross through the field goal I felt my heart sink a little.

3. So what happens if we lose?

By this point, not knowing much about football I started to question “do you think there will be any parties if we lose?"

4. The coping stage

“Nah, we’ve already lost against them in the past seven years, it’s fine, I'm fine, EVERYTHING IS FINE"

5. Boredom

No points were scored in the second quarter which was when people started to grow weary, make lunch plans, and scroll through Twitter.

6. The turning of tables

By the third quarter, our very own Michael Badgley scored a 31-yard field goal. Soon after, Braxton Barrios scored a touchdown making the score 10-3 and with that the game was on and the 'Canes had risen.

7. Pride

Damn right. By the end of the third quarter, the Hurricanes were up by 7 points and it felt good. People were cheering in the stands, the Rat, and you could even hear the stomping of freshman boys in the dorms.

8. Oh no

The fourth quarter. Even if you didn’t watch the game you heard about the 4th quarter. It led to a roller coaster of emotions and was awesome.

9. Nail-biting stage

The first two scoring plays of the fourth quarter were a touchdown and a field goal by FSU, bring the score to a whopping 10-13, FSU now in the lead.

10. Ok let's try this again

With 5 minutes left in the game and the Seminoles winning the Canes fought back with a touchdown by Braxton Barrios. 17-13

11. Okay, stop it

By this point in the game, you just want it to end, no more back and forth with the score, the Canes are winning let’s just stop here. But sadly that was not the case.

12. Oh shit

Yeah, with our last touchdown by Barrios we were for sure we had it in the bag and with that the Noles showed us with a touchdown of their own. 20-17 Noles in the lead.

13. Just don't cry

There’s only a minute and a half left in the game and once again the Seminoles would have beaten the Miami Hurricanes for the 8th year in a row. It’s fine, I won't cry I promise *sniffles*

14. OH MY GOD

With only 6 seconds left in this roller coaster of a game, THE CANES SCORE A TOUCHDOWN WINNING THE GAME AGAINST FSU 24-20!!!!!!!

15. JOY! PRIDE! CHAOS!

I for one was not in Tally for this amazing win, but here at UM, you could hear the screams from miles away. We WON! The canes won! So much pride and joy flooded the campus and cheering and hugging was contagious. The Rat and Dining Halls were moshpits of chanting and we all realized it’s pretty damn great to BE A MIAMI HURRICANE

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
