Entering October, many things may run through your mind. Haunted houses, carving pumpkins, and picking out the perfect Halloween costume.
For me, however,I find myself overly excited about hockey season.
The feeling i get when the puck finally drops is a feeling that I find very hard explain. To give you a general idea, though, it would have to be a cross between seeing your food finally coming at the restaurant, mixed with the anticipation of your teacher handing your test back to you folded in half.
Seeing your favorite team putting in the work and doing well is exhilarating, and when they are not doing so hot, you feel as though you are encouraging your kids playing in middle school, because you need them to try their best and do better, but you simply cannot be a jerk about it.
Even if you were, it is not as if the players would know. You can tweet about it, post on Facebook, or even make an Instagram post. But when we really think about it, the chances of the players seeing and responding are slim. However we still post, because we care.
I care. Boy, do I care.
I constantly tweet about hockey, and share posts about needing October to be here. Of course, October is a beautiful month. It really begins fall, and opens the doors for lots of activities.
But then there is HOCKEY.
This home opener is also going to be extra exciting. My home team being the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 2016 Stanley Cup Champions, we once again get to raise the championship banner in the CONSOL Energy Center. Side note: the home opener is, once again, on my birthday.
Being a hockey fan since 1994, October is a month that I have always looked forward to. I, as well as other fans of the greatest sport on the planet, share a great excitement as we enter our favorite month. If you need me, I will be in front of my television watching the boys repping my hometown do what they do best.
