Just Because You're Single, Doesn't Mean You Have To Hate It

You probably see these types of of articles everyday—

"8 Reasons It's OK To Be Single" or “20 Things All Women Should Do Before They Get Married."

Let’s be real, being single and in your 20s can be bittersweet. One second, you’re happy that you’re not tied down with some psycho while the next second you’re sitting in your living room watching
" Are You The One" with a pint of chocolate ice cream wishing that MTV can help you find love.

At this point, you’re scrolling down on your Instagram and saw a post from that girl you knew in high school who is pregnant with her second kid. All you can think is, “wow, I barely have money to afford the bar tonight.” Scroll down a little more and you see that guy from your gym is engaged. At this point, you’re sitting there in awe thinking about your own life and how far you’ve gotten.

I think for me, the worst part about being single is watching everyone around me that’s happy. Not that I don’t like other people being happy, but just the fact that everyone is coupled up and I can’t go to Atlantic City with my friends because I would be the fifth wheel. Those are probably the worst moments. Those moments when your friends are telling you about the guy that they’re going on their second date with while you’re sitting there wondering why that one guy left you on read.

With the cons, come a few pros. But for a second, sit there and say these words: I’m single. You’re single! You can do whatever you want without having to consult somebody. I think that is a great part about being single. I can stay out until whatever time I want without countless phone calls asking me where I am (except from my mom). I can go to bars and show googly eyes at whatever guy I want without feeling bad.

Most of all though, I think my favorite part about being single is learning to love myself, before I have to love somebody else. Being single in your 20s gives you a right to do what you want to do, learn about yourself, and of course do project

you before project relationship. These times in our lives are precious, these are the years that we will be wishing we had back. Enjoy it while you can, before it is all gone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
