I doubt Kevin Durant can dance as good as that. Durant's doing his own thing as well and I respect that. But as a resident of the OKC metro for six years and a die-hard Thunder fan, I'm not cool with his low-key shots directed towards Oklahoma City and the team, as well as his decision to take the easiest path to a ring.
The Thunder may not win a championship now but Russell Westbrook is going to do big things as the new lone leader of the franchise. His grit, athleticism, and intensity is fun to watch, as well as his media interviews. He could care less about Durant and the Warriors, or even what's going on around the league. His response when asked if he'd watched any games Tuesday? "I played cards, man. I was just chilling, minding my own business, eating a nice dinner, talking to my wife on the phone. Took a nice shower. I used Dove soap. Brushed my teeth, washed my face... put a movie on before I went to sleep and that's what I did." Respect.
Now the 2016-2017 season is here and the Golden State Warriors' players Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have recruited Kevin Durant to the Bay Area to assemble a super team army with one goal in mind: dethrone the King, Lebron James. Unfortunately, for the Warriors, after blowing a 3-1 Finals lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lebron in June, the presumptive champions of this season have already lost their first game.
With this season comes more changes as well. Legends are no longer competing. The absence of Kobe Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers lingers. Tim Duncan's sullen face is missed in San Antonio. And Kevin Garnett is done after 21 years. Dwayne Wade has gone home to join the Chicago Bulls while Derrick Rose predicted that he and his new teammates on the New York Knicks would win every game this season, before being handed a loss by, of course, Lebron and the Cavaliers.
The Warriors are the team to beat but Lebron, Kyrie Irving, and the Cavs are up to the task once again. Watch out for Oklahoma City too as Westbrook and the Thunder now have something to prove. Basketball has returned and it is sure to be another entertaining season.
Will we see another career-defining moment?
