Any girl who says she does not have a sick obsession with shoes is one of two things: either a liar or is not a girl. I mean, yeah, it is awesome that shoes protect our feet and all but who cares about that. Not me. I care about the aesthetic and making sure my shoes go well with my outfit. Hell, I do not even care if I end up with 10 blisters by the end of the night, as long as my shoes were cute. Beauty is pain honey!
But all bantering aside, I really do appreciate a beautiful pair of shoes. This past spring and summer, I have been noticing the same trends in shoes over and over again. Whether these shoes are being worn by celebrities, promoted by brands on Instagram, or even worn locally around our campus, I couldn’t help but notice the same kinds of shoes blowing up in popularity.
I decided to compile together the top 12 hottest trends in shoes momentarily and share it with you guys.
1. Wrap Up Flats.
I love these new types of flats because the wearer can tie them as high or as low as they please. If you are wearing jeans, you can tuck the lace up underneath your jeans, so only your laced-up foot is seen. If you are wearing shorts or a skirt, you can lace them up higher so there is some interest on your legs. The only downside is that they tend to slip and fall down your legs if they are not laced up tight enough.

2. Pointed Flats.
A new take on ballet flats. No more of that passive rounded out front. The new pointed front of ballet flats adds a bit of sass while keeping the professionalism in the classic flat.

3. Flat-Forms.
There’s not much to this one, it is pretty explanatory. A classic ballet flat, with a platform. Now you get to wear your traditional flat with some additional height. Voilà!

4. Wrap Up Heels.
This is the shoe that takes lace-up flats into the night time. A cute lace-up heel in a short dress adds a mysterious and sultry tone to your outfit.

5. Peep-Toe Heels.
So classic, yet still so cute. The classic peep-toe heel will never go out of style because it is so simple and can be worn with practically every outfit, day or night.

6. Kiltie Details.
This is one of the newest trends on this list. Flats and heels alike have been featuring fringe tassels. It adds a little extra bohemian flair to your average shoe. But I am not complaining.

7. Block Heels.
This is another newer trend as well. This trend got its name because the heel actually resembles a block. Block heels feature a thicker heel that tends to be shorter, on average about 4 inches. This is definitively a trend you will see being rocked by naturally taller girls who desire a heel without making themselves that much taller.

8. Over-The-Knee Boots.
These boots have been in for a while, but are not losing its popularity anytime soon. These boots are notoriously worn by the Kardashians, especially Kourtney. OTK boots are a perfect way to wear an extremely short dress (or sweater dress as Kourtney would wear) without showing much leg.

9. Sneakers.
The trend in sneakers is coming hand-in-hand with the athletic wear trend. More and more celebrities have been incorporating sneakers into their street style. Cute and comfortable, I guess not all beauty is pain.

10. Loafers and Oxfords.
A preppier, more tom-boyish trend I could definitely get down with. Oxfords and loafers aren’t for prep school anymore and they are being rocked by girls more than by boys nowadays!

11. Ankle Booties.
With summer coming to a halt and fall just around the corner, it is no wonder that booties are being restocked and can be found by most stores. However, these ankle booties have a new twist on them. Most are either suede, have cut out features and are usually with a pointed front end.

12. Mules.
Mules are the classic example of trends always coming back around. (Kind of like overall, but not really.) These are the perfect sandal to slide right on for a cute and casual day-time outfit.
