NYFW Trend Report

It's the most wonderful time of the year. New looks, ideas and trends are hitting the runway this season and they are better than ever! New York Fashion Week is a semi-annual series of events (generally lasting 7–9 days) when international fashioncollections are shown to buyers, the press and the general public. Fashion Week is the time of year where designers show case their new collection that will be on the runways during the upcoming season. It is one of the four major fashion weeks in the world. Paris, Milan, and London hold the other fashion weeks. Fall/Winter looks are held in February of that year to showcase those seasons upcoming fashions. In September, spring and summer looks of the following year are walking down the runway. To attend the fabulous runway shows you must have an invitation. They are not easy to come by. Most invitations are given to buyers, sellers and the elite. What makes this even fun for the average person like me are the different street styles that are straight off the runways. With different street styles you get to add a little more of yourself to the "look" to make it your own.

The distinct trends that we have seen on the runway this seen have been:

1. Statement Fur

Whether it is faux or real, the statement fur is seen in vivacious prints and bright colors.

2. Ruffles

The bigger the better goes for this look.

3. Shades of Tan

The chic color hits the run way in all forms of clothing.

4. Gold Metallic

Gold isn't just for grandmas anymore, this color is the seasonal standout!

5. Plaid OverCoats

This is a clean, crisp look to add some creativity to your look.

6. Off-the-Shoulder

Off the charts look!

7. Dusty Pink and Yellow

You may be thinking to yourself, these colors clash but wait til you see hits the runways and how the models rock the looks.

8. Pantsuits

They are just a thing.

9. Fall Florals

Not your typical fall look. But change is a good thing.

10. Chokers

Doesn't matter if its a skinny or fat choker, just make something is around your neck this fall!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
