The Olympic Games in Rio are to begin in a few weeks. With that comes the excitement to see the best athletes all over the world compete for the gold. From swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, to gymnasts like Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas, and plenty other amazing competitors.
The array of sports throughout the Olympic games is incredible. Sports you would never even consider competing at the Olympic level are going to Rio. Canoeing, handball, fencing, judo, equestrian jumping, and archery are some of the few that are hidden amongst the more popular olympic sports such as swimming, track and gymnastics.
While there are sports that may not be as popular as some in the Olympic games, there are also sports that have yet to be recognized and allowed to be played at the Olympic level. One sport in particular is overlooked again and again... Tetherball.
Tetherball should be allowed to be played and competed at the Olympic games. Although the game requires little equipment, it does require a large amount of strength, power, and skill to defeat opponents. Tetherball is a sport mostly played in the United States, but if countries around the world knew about tetherball... there would be no questions as to why tetherball should be played in the Olympics.
One of the most amazing candidates for a U.S. Olympic Tetherball team would be Mr. Dynamite. He has been playing for a little over 12 years, and has mastered the sport.
There are terrific tetherball players all over the country, and if we could just come together and form a team and promote our sport, then maybe someday tetherball can be played at the Olympic level.
