To The Best Friend I Never Knew I Needed

I never thought I would have another best friend.

I never thought I'd have another best friend.

It's hard when you graduate high-school and everyone finds where they really want to be. I lost everyone and thought it would always be like that.

You came into my life and I had always figured you hated me. You looked so sophisticated. Something I clearly am not.

But you're different. You've got the funniest laugh and we always take great naps together.

I never thought I'd meet someone who stayed at my house more than I did. Or sang whenever they went in the bathroom, but here you are.

When I say you're my best friend, I really mean it. You're there even when I don't know it. You would do anything for me and I know it. You've brought me food even when I didn't know I was hungry yet.

As I got older and older, sleepovers were really rare. With you, if you don't stay over at least once a week I honestly feel like I haven't seen you in years. You are one of my biggest support systems. Every time I have a bad day or if I have an issue, I can text you and get at least a three-paragraph text back in ten minutes. That always fixes everything.

You can always fix my hair. No matter how awful it looks. You're great at that. You're great at so many things.

You make everyone feel loved. You always have something to say. You're stubborn and you never settle for anything less than what you deserve. I admire that about you.

You're a complete and total dork. Through and through. A complete giggle box. I love that we can yell how much we love each other from different rooms. You sing non-stop and that is something that we definitely have in common. You never miss an opportunity to take a picture with me. You look cute in any dress you throw on and you like your cat more than most people you meet.

You're different and so am I. We'll always be friends and I have never been so sure of something in my life. You were like that missing puzzle piece that I needed to go on dinner dates and road trips with me.

I'll always be here for you. Through anything and everything, I'll be by your side. You deserve the world and Lord knows you're going to get it now matter what.

McKenz, I love you a lot. You're the friend I didn't know I even needed. I just met you one day and it has completely changed my life for the better. Without you, I'd never know that stupid song about acronyms or know all about Drake or how great going to Js can be after 9 o'clock.

Thank you. For everything.

And to tell you the truth, you do like green beans a little too much, but I still love you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
