We are living in time of complete glory in the world of soccer. We are currently witnessing two gods play on the same pitch for the last few years. Two players that have completely changed (and dominated) the sport.
Of course I am talking about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course I am talking about two players that have split a generation down the middle. Of course I am talking about two players that have collectively won eight Ballon D’ors, which is given to the best player of the world, literally the whole wide world.
In the past 12 to 13 years we have seen these two players change the sport and what it means to be a an attacking forward. Their creativity on and off the ball is unparalleled along with their precision in the penalty box is amazing and beautiful.
But we are moving away from these gods now, their era is coming to an end and they are slowly being pushed off the pedestals.Two young players who have been rising and making waves are soon to create eras of their own.
The Argentinian and the Portuguese are going to have a Brazilian and a Frenchman as their successors. Neymar and Pogba are bringing back old styles of play seen before in the early 2000s.
Neymar’s speed and flair reminds us of the sweet samba that Ronaldinho once gave the game. Watching Neymar embarrass the shit out of players reminded me of watching Ronaldinho do the same thing, which started my undying passion for the sport.
Pogba’s technique and vision can be compared to another Frenchman that once dominated the game, Zinedine Zidane. When Pogba goes out on the field he commands and controls the flow of the game to the tee. His ball control and amazing vision allows for plays to be constantly flowing right out if the midfield. Pogba also brings a very powerful shot in his arsenal, often leaving defenders with little options as to how to stop him.
These two players are going to be the next Messi and Ronaldo, breaking records and egos alike. They’re showing amazing skill and tenacity as such young players. Neymar is only 24-years-old and Pogba is only 23.
They have such a long journey and career ahead of them, the possibilities are endless as to what they can achieve. Neymar was raised from the depths of brazil, rising as a Brazilian superstar and right into the arms of one of the greatest teams of all time, FC Barcelona.
Pogba has proven himself as a young star in the Italian league and was brought back to his former club Manchester United for a ridiculous amount of money just showing how wanted and powerful this boy is.
