Let’s play ball! For as long as I can remember, baseball has been a huge part of my life. From attending Indians games with my family to watching my older brother pitch at his games from 5 years old till he was a Junior in high school I’ve loved every second of the game. Baseball; an American pastime has always been my favorite sport to watch and at least attempt to play, but honestly I’ll just leave it to the pros. It’s a game that some people just can’t get into; I’ve been told its boring, not enough action, and even it’s an easy sport. But from experience I can tell you that there is nothing easy about hitting the ball, let alone catching the ball. I have always enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, but this year I am even more excited because we made it to the playoffs. This is a experience that I won’t soon forget; getting to go to a playoff game was amazing, getting to cheer my team to a win and even better to the World Series. The buzz around the Cleveland Indians has really made this fall even more enjoyable. After the success of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Indians having a playoff spot has renewed the Cleveland fans’ faith in Cleveland sports. Round one of the playoffs proved successful for the Cleveland Indians by sweeping the Red Soxs and earning a spot in the AL championship series. Then going on to earn a spot in the World Series is more than I would have ever imagined for this year’s Indian’s team. Who knew that the Indians would make it to October after only making it to September year after year. But boy I am glad that it is the end of October and I can still watch my team play baseball. I love the environment of a baseball game; its not like a hockey game or a basketball game. A baseball game is more than X’s and O’s in a playbook, it is doubles and homeruns. It’s games that can include two homeruns, doubles, triples, and even grand slams or games that can go nineteen innings 0-0. It is a game that is unpredictable; one night your pitcher throws a shutout and the next night your team goes down 5-1, but that is only one game and the city will not back down because of one game, we are all in here in Cleveland, Ohio. Watching the World Series this week has been an experience for Cleveland that won’t be forgotten soon, win or lose. Here’s to a new era of Cleveland sports winning and being on top rather than having to be plagued with losing seasons year after year. But if you’re hoping for the trifecta, ill just warn you now that the Browns will not come through for you.
