First, there was the new hope, after the domination of the Texas basketball teams and Miami, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors treated fans to a terrific Finals. It ended with Golden State winning their first title in 40 years.
Fans got an inkling that these two teams were going to be facing each other many more times in the future.
The next year, the Lebron James empire struck back by denying the Warriors their perfect ending to the “greatest season of all time.” The Cavaliers rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to bring Cleveland its first title since 1964.
Now we return for the third chapter in the trilogy. Both teams are evenly matched, even with the Warriors adding in former Oklahoma City Superman Kevin Durant. Game 1 was, for the most part, a chess match with one team getting an edge and the other coming back. It was not until the second half when Golden State pulled away for good.
Both teams ran through the playoffs with a combined 24-1 record and have been dominant in each of their series wins.
I have a feeling this series will also go seven games but who will win is anybody’s guess.
