The Art Of Letting Go

Letting go is never easy, but holding on is more painful.

The Art Of Letting Go
The Open Mind

I have always found it difficult to let things go and simply be. From a young age, I would obsess over the details of any situation and spend my free time researching for answers and coming up with questions no one ever even thought of. I couldn't rest until I got the answer I was looking because I had to believe that I used all the available resources and explored every possible angle. It was difficult for me to stop because I wanted to believe that there was an answer for everything in life and that possibilities had to be certainties.

As I am getting older, I realize that sometimes we don't always have the answers to everything in life. There's no explanation as to why or how, other than "that's just how life works." Letting go of my original idea was difficult because I was so invested in finding answers, I didn't realize the reality of the situation. Over time, I learned to accept it after going through some personal experiences where I was left with a million thoughts running through my head. Letting go of something or someone is never easy; you've spent all your time and energy into the person/thing and when its time to step back, it's physically impossible because you've become so attached.

Holding onto something that is hurting you is not healthy — anything that is bringing you pain, negativity, disappointment in your life is something that you should get rid of for own sake. Letting go is kind of like holding onto a burn. After a while, the rope starts to irritate your skin, which causes it to burn your skin. You're hurting, but you don't want to admit that you are because then you would have to let go of the rope. The only way you can ever truly feel relief is when you let the rope go. It will hurt after you let go, put pain is temporary. You can't allow someone or something to steal your joy and happiness and make you feel like you are inadequate. You are worth more than that and deserve better than what you are experiencing right now. Letting go means taking the first step into your next journey of life, while closing the door on your past. It doesn't mean that you should forget about your past completely, but rather to use it as a way to build your strength up again.

It will take time. It will take time to come to terms with what you are losing, but you have also have to look at what you are gaining. It will take time to heal and to accept what has happened, as well as moving on. You may be listening to what others around you are telling you to do, but the most important thing to remember is to listen to yourself. Your heart knows you better than you do and knows what you want and don't want. Listen carefully and do the right thing by yourself. You have to let go for your sake, to heal emotionally and be able to move on. Somewhere out there, you're true love/destiny awaits for you, but you will never get the chance until you take the first step.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
