Coming into college, I never thought i would join a sorority. I had friends at state schools who went through recruitment and joined organizations, but it didn't really seem like it was for me. After hearing about all the positives they had to say and having my cousin (who goes to Creighton) assure me that Greek Life is very different on our campus, I figured I would give recruitment a try and see if I could find my home. Little did I know that this decision would forever alter my life in one of the best ways possible.
Thank you for giving me role models.
When I walked into my sorority's recruitment room, I knew from the start that these girls were the girls I wanted to be like when I grew up. They inspire me to do better and strive to be my very best. They have great morals and are involved in literally EVERYTHING on campus. It's such an eclectic group of girls that it's hard not to find a trait in each and every one of them that I admire.
Thank you for giving me my best friends.
Being a girl, it's obvious that I have gone through my fair share of girl drama with backstabbing and losing friends. Being a girl is hard, so when you can find a great group of girl friends who you know won't leave or backstab you, you know you're really lucky.
Being in my sorority has given me some of my best friends in the entire world. I know a few in particular will be in my wedding someday. These girls share the same values as me and I know I can go to them about literally anything and everything and they will be there. If it wasn't for my sorority, I wouldn't have met these girls and I couldn't even imagine what my life would be like without them.
Thank you for getting me involved.
My freshman year, I was scared to get involved in anything. All I wanted to do was go to class and hang out with my small group of friends that I met in the first month of school.
My sorority has gotten me involved with things that I never would have thought I would be involved in. We participate in a Suicide Prevention Walk, a Halloween Party for the kids in the neighborhood around our sorority house, Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, and a lot of other greek organization's philanthropy events.
The girls in my sorority all have passions outside of our organization and participate in literally everything that Creighton has to offer. These girls have pushed me to get involved in things I never would have thought about joining and I have enjoyed every second of it.
Thank you for getting me out of my shell.
My entire life I have always been shy. While I have come out of my shell a little throughout the years, I still tend to stick with what I know and who I know in most situations.
My sorority has caused me to come out of my shell, meet more people, be more social, and not care so much about getting enough sleep. These girls are so much fun and have made me come out of my shell. I know that I can be weird self around them and they won't judge because they are equally as weird.
They don't push me to be something I am not which is something I will be forever grateful for.
Thank you for being there when I really needed you.
I am the first person from my high school to come to Creighton, which is seven hours away.
I have had my moments of homesickness and my moments of high stress. I have thought about transferring to be closer to home. I have felt very alone at points in my college career. I have spent hours awake at night stressing about a test or just life in general.
I know that whenever I am down or something is wrong, I can turn to my sorority to be one of my strongest support systems. These girls genuinely care about each and every one of their sisters and will support you no matter what.
We have had girls drop, we have had girls transfer, we have had girls commit their entire lives to our organization, but most importantly, we have a strong sisterhood of girls who will support you no matter your decisions in life.
