Thank You To All My Bestfriends

Some people go their entire lives having only one person as their best friend and that is awesome for them. I, on the other hand, have had several best friends starting in elementary school up until now. I think those people deserve special thanks for getting me through each part of my life. So thank you.

Elementary School: Other than my sisters and cousins, you were my first group of friends. I distinctly remember having two groups of friends, one group I spent time at school with and the others were reserved for outside of school. To my "in-school friends" I cannot watch the Cheetah Girls without thinking about you. You guys provided endless fun whether we were in class, eating lunch, or out playing tetherball or four square. To my "outside-school friends" since all of our moms worked at our school you could often find us hanging out after school. Thank you for keeping me entertained when no one else was in the school. Thank you for the games of "sandman", running through the empty gym, sleepovers, lake trips, and birthday parties. Thank you for everything.

Middle School: There were very few people who I knew going into middle school which meant finding completely new friends. Being a shy person, I was definitely worried. Through choir, I was able to make some great friends who had a lot of the same interests as me. These were the people who accepted me for me even if I didn't know I was yet. What could be more important than that? I remember Chinese food and bowling sleepovers, cracking up before school as we waited for the bus, and goofing off in Spanish class because we just didn't care. Thank you for everything.

High School: These are the people who probably shaped me the most. Allowing me to figure out who I really am and what I want out of life. You know you have a special freshman class when you fill as though everyone was your best friend. You guys made me realize that the school I did not want to be at was the best possible school to be at. I honestly do not know if I would've returned had it not been for you. Sophomore year I had 2 solid best friends that I met through volleyball. I do not think I have laughed as much during a school year as I did with you. From our daily bleacher and tea talks to our obsessions with The Biebs, I am so grateful for both of you. Junior year and Senior year are the two years I made some lifelong friends and some not so lifelong friends. Thank you all for the great memories of jamming out to any kind of music we could find, sonic excursions, weekend movie days, sleepovers, and dances. But more importantly, thank you for making me realize what I deserve and how I deserve to be treated. Thank you for everything.

College: I do not think I have ever felt as loved as I do right now as far as the friends I have. you are the people that I will attend summer concerts with, celebrate my 21st birthday with, and stand next to me as I marry the love of my life. You are there for me when I need to vent or when I just want a laugh and I know you will always be in my life. Thank you for everything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
