We all have our people—the people who would do anything for us, the people we would do anything for. These are your best friends. They are your support system. They pick you up when you're down and they remind you constantly that you are loved so very much. If you choose your best friends right, they're not just high school best friends or your college best friends, but they're your people, your everything, your future bridesmaids.
Here are a few thank you's that I think every best friend deserves to hear, especially mine.
1. Thank you for loving me when I'm not very lovable.
You get me at my worst. You get me after a long day when nothing seems to be going right. You get me when I'm not in the mood for anyone's crap. So thank you for dealing with all my annoying mood swings and loving me even when I snap at you, and when I am not the most pleasant person to be around. Thank you for loving me when it's the probably the last thing you want to do.
2. Thank you for reminding me that I am good enough.
I remember a few weeks ago crying alone in my dorm room because I felt like nothing I did was good enough. So thank you for quite possibly the kindest words I have ever heard, reminding me I am good enough, and what I do is more than enough. Sometimes you just have to be reminded of those things.
3. Thank you for being there for me when life seems to be falling apart.
Earlier this year I lost someone very special to me to cancer. When I found out, I was over 600 miles away from my home, my family and my best friends. I was completely alone dealing with the hardest thing I have ever had to face. So thank you for the constant love and support, the daily bible verses and the cute pictures of adorable animals to try and put a smile on face.
4. Thank you for telling me I deserve better.
When boys are mean, and I'm sobbing on the phone, thanks for telling me that I deserve better. Thank you for making me realize my self worth and that I deserve nothing but to be treated with love and respect. Thank you for making me believe that I will find someone, and I won't be alone for ever and end up an old lady who has 600 cats.
5. Thank you for the amazing memories
Whether is was road tripping to San Antonio and laughing the whole way, or being the only people under 40 years old at Gruene Hall on a Saturday night, sumo wrestling at project graduation, or singing "Blank Space" at the top of our lungs. Thank you for endless laughs and memories. These are things I will hold onto for the rest of my life. So here's to all the fun times and the many more to come.
Thank you for being my people.
