10 Thoughts Every Fall Athlete Has When Spring Season Starts

The weather is changing and you have just a couple months left of school. You know what that means -- spring season! Just when you had gotten used to all of your free time you have to reschedule your life again. But, hey, at least its doing what you love!

1. Do I remember how to play?

No matter how much you've played indoor during the winter or tried footwork or stick skills on your own, you will still be nervous that you forgot how to play. However, by the end of the first practice you'll feel comfortable again -- it's like riding a bike!

2. I wish I had run more.

Again, no matter how much you worked out you will still wish that you worked out more. Specifically, you will wish you ran more.

3. I need to schedule my time better.

It is weird to go from a strict in season schedule to a more relaxed season to a semi-strict season schedule. Planning your work and meetings with practices will feel a little tricky at first, but then everything will fall into place.

4. Does this mean there is no time to nap?

Part of the scheduling comes from prioritizing tasks such as homework and practice over Netflix and napping. It's an unfortunate truth.

5. Our practice times are not ideal.

In season, you have that ideal 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. time slot almost every practice. In the off-season, your practice times are either really early in the morning or really late at night.

6. RIP to the locker room.

In season pre-practice locker room meet-ups are the best. Blasting music gets you pumped for practice and your team is all together, but out of season your locker room belongs to another team.

7. Am I spoiled if I don't want to wash my own practice gear?

The answer is yes, but regardless we all have that cringe of disappointment when we pick up our practice uniform and remember that we are responsible for making sure we do not have to put on sweaty, smelly clothing.

8. But I'm still so excited!

After you get out all of your jitters during that first practice you remember how much you love to play. Everything begins to feel right again and you can't help but be excited for what's to come.

9. I missed my team.

Everyone has different schedules, so even though you may try to meet up as a team in the off-season it is rare that everyone is there, especially if you have teammates abroad. Getting to play together again, even if it is only the freshman and sophomore class reminds you how much you missed playing with your teammates.

10. This is going to be a great season.

Your back on your home turf with the people you love. It's going to be a great season.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
