Living in the blistering heat of the wonderful Sunshine State, I've learned how to battle the humidity and horrific heat we are presented with every day. The hottest and most miserable months of this weather start in April and end typically in early September (if we're lucky). Unfortunately for us, we are sent the worst, scorching temperatures during the summertime, from May through August. For anyone that wears makeup, there is nothing worse than having oily skin, dealing with these sweltering conditions and watching your makeup literally slide off your face. It's definitely taken some time to figure it out, but I have discovered a fool-proof way to keep that summertime face makeup on and looking flawless all day long.
Now for a college student living on an extremely tight budget, I've discovered amazing drugstore products that keep my makeup lasting unblemished during these blazing summer days. Here are some of my personal trustworthy drugstore makeup products I use religiously in the hot summer sun!
1. A Strong Primer -- Nivea Men's Post Shave Balm
I know, I know...this is pretty weird. One of my favorite Internet beauty gurus discovered this product when she didn't bring any moisturizer with her on a short vacation, and therefore, had to use her husband's shaving balm. She explained that using this balm as a moisturizer and applying it to the face until it's tacky is a sure fire way to keep your foundation flawless all day. Of course, I had to go out and buy it and try it for myself. This stuff works. I have extremely oily skin and could never keep any product on my face until I found this. Buy it, use it and love it. You will be amazed.
2. A Good Mattifying Foundation -- Revlon And L'Oreal
Your foundation is the literal foundation for the day. It's really important for me personally to apply a mattifying foundation during the summer so my face doesn't melt off in the hot sun. I personally have two foundations I live and die for. I love the Revlon 24-Hour Colorstay Foundation in their "Combination to Oily Skin" formula and the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. These two foundations are amazing and I'm so glad I discovered them. They are the perfect liquid to powder formulas, and even using these to in combination with each other is like a dream come true.
3. Creamy Concealer(s) -- Rimmel And Maybelline
I love the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer for under the eyes, and the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer specifically for blemishes. These two concealers are creamy and super easy to blend right into the skin, while giving great coverage and radiant finishes without over-drying your skin. If you want your makeup to look beautiful all day, then you need these concealers in your life.
4. Setting Powder(s) -- Neutrogena, Covergirl And RCMA
I use multiple powders to set my entire face to ensure I have a long lasting oil free face all day long. There are so many high-end products that are obviously great at doing their job, but there are drugstore products that work the exact same. I personally love the Neutrogena Shine Control Powder and the Covergirl Profession Loose Setting Powder. These two powders do a wonderful job at setting my face and keeping my makeup in place all day long! Another affordable option if you're willing to pay for shipping, is the RCMA No-Color Powder that is only available online, but works like magic.
5. Setting Spray -- L'Oreal
This is the last step in making sure you have flawless looking skin all throughout the day. My favorite drug store setting spray I use daily is the L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray. This setting spray does an amazing job at holding everything in it's place all day long and even into the nighttime. Whether you're running errands or going dancing, during the summer time this spray is a must in your collection.
