It’s finally here! People have waited the whole season for this moment. Players have busted their tails since the summer for this flash of celebrity status, and on the biggest stage ever. Super Bowl 50! The teams are set and already into Santa Clara, California. This will be one of the biggest Super Bowls ever. For one, it is the Super Bowl with the biggest number, 50.
For the first time, it puts two former number one picks, Peyton Manning and Cam Newton.
If Manning wins he will be the oldest quarterback to do so.
If Newton wins he will become the first player to win a College National Championship, a Heisman Trophy, and a Super Bowl.
Also, if Newton wins he will become the 3rd African American to win a Super Bowl, behind Doug Williams and Russell Wilson.
Also, it has been reported that this will be Peyton Manning’s last game. If it is, it will be a changing of the guard as Manning hands over the entire league to Cam Newton.
Ron Rivera will become only the 2nd Hispanic head coach to roam the sidelines on Super Bowl Sunday.
Denver has a BIG edge in Super bowl experience. 18 players on their active roster have taken part in the Festivities taking place Sunday. Carolina has only seven.
If the Broncos win Sunday it will be the first time a General Manager, John Elway, has won as a player and a GM.
The Broncos will wear their white jerseys for Sunday’s Match up. They are undefeated in the super bowl while wearing white.
10-11 past winners of the Vince Lombardi Trophy have worn white.
This will possibly be the latest Super Bowl ever. It is the latest date that a Super Bowl has been played Feb. 7th, but if the kickoff is later than 6:32 ET it will be the latest Super Bowl ever.
Now for the real reason we have all gathered here today. Who’s gonna win this dang thing? Well, I am glad you asked.
Both teams are poised for this moment in the limelight. The Broncos have had a stellar defense carry them to the Super Bowl. The Panthers have had an offense that has flown over nearly everybody they have played, and a defense that is not too shabby either. Denver has the best defense in the league, while Carolina has the 6th best. Offensively the Panthers have the top Offense, and the Broncos stubble in with the league’s 19th best offense. The Panthers are also favored by 4.5 points.
Now that the preliminaries are over with lets dive down deep into this one.
Now this will not, I repeat, will not be Super Bowl XLVIII. This will be a close game. Why? Because Defense wins Championships.
I feel we will see that happen. I feel Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware will continuously attack Newton. If he can escape the pocket he will have Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall staring him down. I think Newton will hit the ground more than once. In the AFC Title game Brandy was taken down more than 20 times. The Patriots line is probably better if not on the same par as Carolina. Also, Carolina has a pretty good running offense with Stewart and Whittaker as well. Denver has the best rush defense in the league as well. They also have a stellar defensive backfield. The key to beat the Panthers, is to make them one dimensional offensively. A feet that no one has been able to do all year, but they haven’t played the Denver Broncos either.
The Denver offense is in a lot of trouble too. Manning, who will be looking at retirement homes on the coast this week, is well past his prime. He has, however, put his team in a chance to win, and that’s all you can ask for in a below par QB. He isn’t Trent Dilfer, but he isn’t the Manning we know from years past. He is in between he can make the throw when he needs to but would rather hand the ball off. If he hands off to a running back into the teeth of the Panthers defense it might eat Anderson alive. Also, if Manning makes a mistake throwing the ball the league leading defense in INTs will take action. Norman will pick off Manning. If he doesn’t, that means Manning isn’t throwing the ball. He has to take risks Sunday.
This Game will mimic the AFC Title game very much. Two big defenses throwing their weight around. The weaker of the two defense will make a mistake and allow the opposition to get an easy score late in the ball game. Also, there will be turnovers for both teams, and could possibly lead to the tipping point.
In a close game anything can happen and it will.
Super Bowl 50
Broncos – 30
Panthers – 24
A close one, but the Sheriff will ride off into the sunset a champion. It would be a great send off for an even greater player. A group of tested individuals will come out the winner either way
