If you are anything like me, you have developed a severe case of what is commonly known as spring fever. That being said, instead of studying for my upcoming exams, I am browsing swimsuits online and trying to figure out the cutest color combination I can create. So since I have summer on my mind and nothing better to do, I decided to create a summer bucket list.
I have never been a huge fan of these things, particularly because whenever I or any of my friends has ever created one, the bucket list is never completed. So I gave it my best shot to try and think of some activities that actually may have a chance of getting done:
1. Explore your hometown.
Take an adventure. Hop in the car with some friends and go discover a new spot to hang out.
2. Work.
Summer is the prime time to work and make some spending money. Whether it's a job at an ice cream parlor, the mall or a summer camp, anything helps! You will also be grateful at the end of the summer to have made money before going back to school.
3. Read a good book.
There's nothing like those lazy days by the pool or at home when you just feel like kicking back and reading a good book. I know with the stress from school it can be hard to find time to dive into a good book. Summer is the perfect time to get caught up on all the books you have been wanting to read.
4. Catch up with all your friends.
It is hard to see all your friends and truly catch up with them during the shorter breaks throughout the year. Summer is a time when you are home for awhile and really have time to meet up and talk about the year.
5. Hang out with your family.
Summertime is prime family time. I always love going on family vacations, and it is something I look forward to. Even if you don't go on vacation, find some time between work and hanging out with your friends when you can spend time with your family.
6. Go visit your college friends.
Four months is a long time to be away from your friends. Go visit them! Chances are you have a ton of friends living in different states, so go explore a new state and see your friends at the same time.
7. Have a cookout.
Summertime is the best because it's the season for cookouts. Burgers, hot dogs and s'mores. There's nothing like sitting out with family and friends and just enjoying a summer night while eating great food.
8. Have a movie marathon.
Being outside is great, but some days you just need to sit inside the nice air conditioning and watch a ton of movies. Grab some friends and binge-watch Netflix. Besides, you can't feel guilty about it over the summer because you have no school work you should be doing instead.
9. Rearrange your room.
Decorate your room at home! Coming home from college and going back to a nice-looking room is the best feeling ever. I haven't rearranged my room in years, so something I am looking forward to is going home and redecorating it. Also, while you're at it, you should probably unpack. I had suitcases and plastic bins from college sitting around for weeks. The sooner you unpack, the less time you'll have to spend dreading it.
10. Go to a music festival.
Summer is prime festival season. If looking online at festival clothing doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will. Not to mention all the hot new music that's been coming out. There is nothing quite as fun as going to an all-day music festival and listening to great music, surrounded by great people.
11. Go to the beach.
Go to the beach, get a tan and eat lots and lots of ice cream.
