You are sitting on your school's football field, sweating incessantly in the humidity of June. When the final speech is done, you toss up your cap and will finally be considered a college freshman. You will soon have a whole new life. You started out as an anxious high school freshman and you blinked once. You soon became a high school senior and the year went by even faster. There were times as a high school student where stress overtook all of our emotions. We were unable to concentrate because our stress was debilitating. Through all of these teenage hormones, we made it through high school and it has prepared us for life.
Remember all of those hallway fights, crude teachers, and bad lunches? Even with so many struggles, we still had the time of our lives in high school. The things that kept all of us going were friends, sports, and motivating teachers. Whether you had a steady family at home or not, there was always a reason to come to school. About 7 classes, known as periods, every day for five days a week was exhausting. Waking up at 6 am every morning, is not helpful to a teenager's circadian rhythm, but that was no reason to complain. High school was the best years of my life and here is a short analysis of it.
Freshman year you start out with knowing almost no one. You are petrified to begin a whole new career. In high school, there surprisingly was not too many cliches like shown in movies. Yes, there were jocks, nerds, and band geeks, but many people become a mix of them. Sophomore year is when you start finding out who you are becoming. Some elderly folks tell you that sophomore year is the most difficult of them all, but they would be incorrect nowadays. In the modern society, junior year is by far the hardest and most nerve-wracking. This is the year that you visit colleges and can begin to submit applications. In your final year of high school, you are literally "too cool for school," even though many students are in multiple Advanced Placement (AP) courses, while praying for acceptance letters to soon come in. By senior year, you have beome exactly what you worked towards. Whether you receive academic or sport scholarships or nothing at all, if you were determined enough, then you have officially become an adult.
Your journey to graduation is what makes you who you are. The destination is important, too. You either go on to college, the military, the work force, or just do absolutely nothing after you graduate. It is 100% up to you. You determine what you will do with your life. High school was all about discovering myself, and I successfully did. There will be friendships that I made along the way that I know will last a lifetime. All the lessons from the struggles of high school have only forced me to grow and become a better person overall. If I could go back to high school and fix anything about my high school career, I would not change anything for the world. I have made memories that I will never forget.
