It's the start of the year and you know what that means, all these "new year, new me" statuses are going to start popping up. Somehow people think that because the year is ending they are just going to transform into a whole new person overnight.
"I'm going to stop talking to this person after New Years"
"I'm going to eat healthier in the new year"
PSA: You do not need for it to be the beginning of the year to do whatever you want.
Do you want to dye your hair? Go out and do it today. Do you want to adopt a puppy? Make sure your significant other/family member isn't allergic to it then go get it.
Why do we need a new year for to try to become a better person? We should be growing and experiencing things that we want to do everyday, not just as we begin a new year. Why "cut people off" that are clearly toxic to us after the ball drops and not before? If it's September and you think you want to get in shape then exercise that day. Don't wait until January 1st.
A lot of people are pressured into thinking that they need to change just because it's a new beginning but chances are you won't. Because, if you were going to change you would have before the year ended. You are perfect just the way you are.
The truth is at midnight you are still going to be the same person you were at 11:59. We don't know what this year will be bring or any year after that. So, I just vote that we hope for positivity and that we will turn into the person we were meant to be. Who's with me?
