Stop Holding Onto The Relationship That Is Holding You Back

You deserve the world and so much more than what you're allowing yourself to have.

Stop Holding Onto The Relationship That Is Holding You Back
Yoann Boyer

We all have that one relationship that stops us in our tracks. It drags us backwards a million times. Every time you think you're about to make it out, you're suddenly sucked back in because there's this feeling of emptiness every time you leave. It feels like your normality is being pulled away from you, and you run back to the one thing that gives you comfort. But baby, it's pulling you down and you know it.

I'll tell you what's happening. You're doing exactly, and I mean exactly, what I did. I, too, was stuck in a relationship where I was drowning in quicksand every day. I knew it wouldn't last, no matter how many times I tried to convince myself that it would, that I was staying because it could work. But trust me, you can only convince yourself of that so many times. I know that you also feel like you can't be the one to leave. You feel like you aren't strong enough. Even though you may not be exactly happy in his arms, but you feel a sense of comfort because it's normal. You're settling, and you know it.

You're made for so much more than this. You deserve so much more than this, and you know it.

Now, since I've been in your position, I'm not going to lie to you. It's going to be really hard. But when the time comes to leave, you're going to be so focused on yourself. You'll get to do things for yourself that you feel like you can't do right now because you are so consumed in a relationship that is not good for you.

The fact is, you're not in a relationship that is not helping you move forward as a person. You might be an incredible girlfriend and more, but you're not with someone who treats you like you are, and you deserve more than that. You know that you do, or maybe you don't know that, but I am telling you right now that you deserve so much more than what you have now. You know this relationship isn't going to last. You're probably telling yourself that it'll just run its course and it'll end naturally, but is that really making you better? No. Getting out of this relationship, however, will make you better.

You'll get to have girls nights and dance with strangers and learn who you are. You'll get to travel more because there's nothing holding you back. You'll have so much potential to make a difference. You will be so wholesome and full of life, and you'll have so much fire in your heart. You won't hate love, you'll know that it'll come when it's supposed to. You won't need another half, because you'll already be whole.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
