Stephen Curry has become the best player in the NBA and he makes it look so easy. Standing at just 6’3” and weighing in at around 180 lbs. Curry isn’t a massive athlete like superstars LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Size is the only thing he lacks though, as Curry is able to control the game with his all-around skill. Smaller guards have dominated before but never like Steph. Using arguably the best ball handling on the planet and his limitless range, Curry is able to create space. With all this extra space he’s able to get the shot that he wants whenever he wants it.
Curry’s handle is so good that it sometimes looks like he’s lost control of it but he’s actually in total control of the ball. Just when a defender thinks it’s the right time to reach in Steph proves them wrong and makes them pay.
His range stretches out to half-court and he’s shown it on numerous occasions this season. Steph has in the gym range meaning once he steps foot in the gym you better have a hand in his face. Ask the Oklahoma City Thunder about his range. On Feb.27 Curry pushed the ball down the court in the final seconds of the game and pulled up from 37-feet to drain the game winner.
The shot was unreal and just a glimpse of the greatness that is Stephen Curry. His shooting ability is the reason why I believe that we all have come to love him so much. He’s perfected shooting the accuracy and range. Shooting a basketball is something that all fans have done in their life so we all can relate. Fans know it’s takes a good amount of skill to make shots but somehow this guy manages to shoot and make threes at the same rate other NBA players make two’s.
The baby-faced assassin has been a man amongst boys on the court this season. Leading the league in points per game at 30.7 while also averaging 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. Led by Curry the Golden State Warriors have torn through the league this year and are on pace to break the single-season wins record held by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls.
As a team, the Warriors are breaking records but Steph is breaking just as many on his own. He’s hitting five threes a game which is the most in NBA history and recently tied the NBA record for most threes made in a game (12).
The record that he has broken that’s most insane is the record for three-pointers made in a season (286). Curry has broken this record for the third consecutive year and, this time did it with 24 games left in the season. If he continues to knock them down at this same rate he’ll finish the season with 410 threes made which would be 124 more than the previous record.
With his stephertless play, this season the reigning MVP will be going back-to-back as MVP. I'm sure a second MVP will put Steph in another dancing mood.
