There are some things that you can do at home, that you really can't do at college. One of those is dancing around your bedroom in your underwear. I mean, you could, but you might get some weird looks if your roommate walks in. But, if you wanna go for it, here are some great songs to dance around your underwear to.
Let's start with the classics.
1. "Old Time Rock N' Roll" - Bob Seger
It's the one that Tom Cruise is dancing to in the cover photo. This is the original dancing in your underwear song.
2. "You Make My Dreams" - Hall and Oates
This song is synonymous with happy moments. It's about every movie where someone is having a happy moment.
3. "Stuck in the Middle With You" - Stealers Wheel
If you're a Tarantino fan like I am, you'll know why this song is on the list. Just try not to cut anyone's ear off.
4. "American Girl" - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
This is on the list just because it's one of my favorites. Everyone needs a little Tom Petty in their lives.
The boy bands:
1. "Bye Bye Bye" - *NSYNC
Don't even pretend like you've never heard this song and know that it's a great song. Don't lie to yourself.
2. "I Want It That Way" - The Backstreet Boys
I used to HATE this song. Needless to say, my opinion has changed.
3. "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" - New Kids on The Block
Before NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys was NKOTB. If you haven't heard of them, consider this a jumping on point.
4. "One Thing" - One Direction
One Direction is my guilty pleasure band, I had an unbelievably hard time choosing a song for this.
' 80s Bands:
1. "Jessie's Girl" - Rick Springfield
If you haven't heard this one, I pity you. What are you doing with your life?
2. "Africa" - Toto
Can someone please tell me where I need to go to bless the rains?
3. "Take Me Home Tonight" - Eddie Money
Chances are, you heard this song at a dance at some point in your high school career.
4. "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns N Roses
I couldn't decide whether to put this is classic rock or the 80's, because it's both.
'90s and Early 2000s:
1. "Stacy's Mom" - Fountains of Wayne
This had to be in this section, because it's a classic of our era.
2. "Thnks Fr th Mmrs" - Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy will be on the greatest hits of the 2000s 20 years from now, I'm calling it.
3. "Closing Time" - Semisonic
Just a great one hit wonder from the '90s.
4. "Ohio (Come Back to Texas)" - Bowling for Soup
Listening to this song at 2 a.m. is what inspired this article.
Hipster/Indie:
1. "Diane Young" - Vampire Weekend
When it comes to hipster, it doesn't get much better than Vampire Weekend
2. "I Wanna Get Better" - Bleachers
This is a personal favorite of mine. Worth checking out if you haven't heard of Bleachers.
3. "Lonely Boy" - The Black Keys
The Black Keys have some great music videos. This guy is what you'll look like when you listen to this song.
4. "Home" - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
You'll be whistling along before you know it (provided you know how).
Classic Rock:
1. "I Want You To Want Me" - Cheap Trick
If you've ever seen "10 Things I Hate About You," you've probably heard this song.
2. "Detroit Rock City" - KISS
I would be doing a disservice to myself and my dad if I didn't add this song to the list.
3. "Somebody To Love" - Queen
Deciding between this and "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the hardest decisions I've made in a while.
4. "Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey
Because DUH!
Top 40:
1. "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" - Justin Timberlake
This playlist needs all the JT it can get.
2. "I Took A Pill in Ibiza" - Mike Posner
Excuse the strange music video.
3. "Tear in My Heart" - Twenty One Pilots
This song may not actually be in the Top 40, but it's better than the two Twenty One Pilots songs that are in the Top 40.
4. "Sorry" - Justin Bieber
This is one of the Justin Bieber songs that I can stand.
Hip Hop/Rap:
1. "It's Tricky" - RUN-DMC
I can rap this whole song. Don't ask me to do it, I won't.
2. "Ice Ice Baby" - Vanilla Ice
Don't even tell me that the intro isn't stolen from "Under Pressure" by Queen.
3. "No Interruption" - Hoodie Allen
The one Hoodie Allen song that everyone has heard. I can also rap this whole song. Again, don't ask me to do it.
4. "Donald Trump" - Mac Miller
Even though I'm not a fan of the namesake, it's still a good song.
Here's a Spotify playlist of all the songs on this list.
