I've always found it strange that listening to sad music helps me cope better than if I were to be listening to something happy and upbeat. The reality is, if you didn't experience any negative emotions in your life, you wouldn't grow as a person. It is OK to allow yourself to be sad. Embrace it and you'll heal with time, my mom always told me.
As common of a phrase that is, I didn't truly believe in it until I experienced heartache myself.
You might've just got your heartbroken, or maybe you dropped your last chicken nugget on the floor. Regardless of your situation, here is a collection of songs to "be in your feelings" too.
"Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi
Anything by Lewis Capaldi is bound to bring a tear out of your eyes, I don't make the rules. A personal favorite of mine I've been singing at the top of my lungs in my room at 2 a.m.
"You Are The Reason" by Calum Scott
The instrumentals in this are absolutely beautiful, the lyrics are something you could stare out the window to.
"I Love You" by Billie Eilish
Billie's soft, gentle voice is so soothing. Curling up under the covers is a must with this one.
"Unsteady" by X Ambassadors
If you've seen the film Me Before You, this song needs no context whatsoever. X Ambassadors' lead vocalist, Sam Harris, has a certain tone to his singing voice that is emotionally powerful.
"Lie To Me" by 5 Seconds of Summer
Lie To Me is about a toxic relationship that is going up in flames (both literally and figuratively in the music video). Although the song is sad, it's still a bop. You might end up sobbing while also having a dance party, brace yourself.
