United We Stand, Divided We Fall

I hear every single day about how social workers are supposed to be against President Donald Trump. I have never been one who is up to date on recent politics. But, as a future social worker, I do support and value other's opinions.

I am a female. I support Donald Trump.

I am a social work student. I support Donald Trump.

I am a person who believes in giving those that share different views than my own a chance. I support Donald Trump.

No matter who is President, we have to live in a country where they are there for at least four years.

We, as social workers, are told to not give up on people and to give other's a chance (no matter how many times they fail us). That is what we have to do with our President Donald Trump.

The big issue right now that is the talk of all my classes, is the overturn on Obamacare/Affordable Healthcare Act. I did some research and found out Trump is revising the health care reform. Donald Trump plans to make healthcare more affordable because under Obamacare the deductibles are so high that it becomes a useless insurance to have. Many people cannot afford "affordable healthcare." Ironic right? Affordable healthcare is not so affordable. The monthly payments might seem low, but if you dig in and do some research, the deductibles are very high and the actual coverage is very low. Also, those who do not have health insurance face high penalty costs. Which does not seem fair in the Land of the Free, now does it?

I personally was trying to get Obamacare a couple years ago and was told I did not make enough money to qualify. Now, isn't that something to laugh about? Not making enough money for AFFORDABLE healthcare?

I support Donald Trump and his perspective to revise the health care issue and make it to where people can truly afford it and make use of the insurance.

Complaining to a classroom of social workers every single day will not change the fact that yes, Donald Trump is our President. As social workers, we are taught to work in impossible situations that we might not always like, but guess what? We do it because it's our passion and profession. We learn that everyone has strengths and deserves rights as a human being, we owe it to Donald Trump and America, to at least give him a chance.

I can guarantee, if Hilary Clinton would have won, people would still find ways to say she should not be our President either.

So sit back, breathe, and hold on tight for the next for years because Donald Trump is, in fact, our President.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
