Social Anxiety: As Told By The Sidekicks Of Pixar

Having social anxiety is something that so many people deal with on a regular basis. Whether it's not it's going to a party and not knowing anyone, or being too anxious to talk to someone you don't know on the first day of class, to everything in between. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Here is a list of so many relatable quotes and moments that relate to things some people with social anxiety feel, think, and say, as told by the sidekicks from Disney Pixar Films.

Russell from "UP"

Sometimes, you just don't pick up on key signals from the ones around you about what they do and don't want to hear. And, that's totally okay. I mean, c'mon, who doesn't love Russell just for the fact that he says whatever is on his mind?

Rex from "Toy Story"

Being paranoid that you're bothering everyone around you is one of the most common forms of social anxiety. If you think everything you say just comes off as annoying, you're not alone! Rex questioned everything he did, and he's friends still adore him.

Mike Wazowski from "Monsters, Inc."

When the guy or girl you thought was so attractive drops the, "so who's your friend?" line after talking to you for about 15 minutes...yeah, we've all been there. Just send them to your friend, have a drink, and tell their kids you're the one who get them together. After all, Mike never doubted how romantic he is.

Alfredo Linguini from "Ratatouille"

Well, this pretty much explains it all.

Edna from "The Incredibles"

What you mentally think to yourself when you realize no one is responding to you...Don't take it to personally and relax! Edna never let anything get her down.

Dory from "Finding Nemo"

Channeling your inner Dory when that one person you enjoyed talking to tries to leave.

Fear from "Inside Out"

Finally! The relief you feel when you walk out of any uncomfortable situation relates a little too much to the emotion/character Fear. Everyone has a little bit of fear in them, and that's okay!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
