Donald Trump is a nutcase hungry for the power of the presidency.
That, dear readers, is my honest opinion of the presidential candidate. I can understand and respect all viewpoints of the runners for the presidency, but I say with complete truthfulness that I’d rather be forced to eat my own nail clippings for a year that have Trump as U.S. president. Unfortunately, the public has become divided on the billionaire and have loudly proclaimed their opinions, leading to a grand upheaval at most things with Trump’s name on it. WIth Trump’s lies about events like 9/11 and his treatment of handicapped reporters, people have now associated him with a few unsavory figures and organizations of history. This intense dislike people have for the candidate has lead to his nationwide infamy and his own special commercial on SNL on March 5.
At first the so called commercial starts off as any other voters ad, complete with actors praising the presidential candidate. Then, it takes the familiar and comical air that Saturday Night Live. The show then gets a laugh from the audience at Trump’s expense, pointing out the ever growing opinion that Trump is similar to Hitler and the Ku Klux Khlan. The ad clearly displays a nazi band aorund an actor’s arm, a pin board with fabricated conspircies against muslims, and a man carrying wood for a fire being danced around by members of the KKK. The fake Donald Trump ad is meant to be taken lightly of course; SNL is meant to poke fun at everyday topics. Yet the emphasis on the majority of people’s opinions is hard to ignore.
Trump and Hitler
As the presidential election has progressed, voter’s view on Donald Trump has varied between the messiah the government needs to the antichrist with not much in between. What has become more usual is the comparison between him and Hitler. A number of people have been recorded placing Trump in the same category as the meglo-maniac, from Michelle Collins from The View and Eva Schloss, the stepsister of Anne Frank, to the comedian Lioue CK, who wrote about his thoughts on Trump in a email to his fans.
“It was funny for a little while, but the guy is Hitler. And by that I mean we are being Germany in the ‘30s. Do you think they saw the shit coming?” He asks his fans, “Hitler was just some hilarious and refreshing dude with a weird comb over who would say anything at all.”
Trump hasn’t said much about the comments pertaining to him and a man who was responsible for over six million deaths during his reign of terror. He only slightly touches on his feelings about.
"I don't know about the Hitler comparison,” Trump says on Good Morning America. “I hadn't heard that, but it's a terrible comparison. I'm not happy about that certainly."
Of course it’s a terrible comparison. Trump can’t be the next Hitler, not in America, right? Well, it’s pretty hard to not think of the presidential candidate without a Hitler moustache when he has his fans raising their right hands to salute him and pledging to vote for him. Not exactly an original idea to round up support.
Supporters in with the Ku Klux Klan
Not only has Donald Trump been called a wannabe dictator, but his fans have also taken some heat. The ad clearly highlights the fact that most people believe white supremacists and KKK members love and support Trump. It's not a far stretch of the imagination, as supporters agree wholeheartedly with Trumps racist views on the Muslim community and immigrants living in America, and technically the rumor is true. Donald Trump came under fire a few weeks ago after it was found out he was supported by the former KKK leader David Duke and actually hesitated to disavow him.
SNL has wrapped up everyone’s concerns and wrapped them up in shiny wrapping paper. Donald J. Trump is someone people fear will rise up and be as detrimental as the last dictator who was invited in a country. The majority of America has an opinion of him, whether or not they support the billionaire is there choice. What matters is that everyone gets to the polls and exercise their ability to express that opinion. The last thing we need is Trump winning the presidency just because there weren’t enough people using their vote to stop him.
