The Trouble With Trump

My stance on why Trump is not the man for the job

The Trouble With Trump

Disclaimer: The purpose of this article is to express my personal opinions about Donald Trump as it pertains to his campaign to become the President of the United States. If you feel my opinion is incorrect, then by all means, good for you. However, any negative comments or insults will not make me look ignorant; it will only reflect badly on you. This is your opportunity to stop reading if you are in the mood to be close-minded.

Donald Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015. His slogan, “Make America Great Again” was released on that day at Trump Tower. When I first learned that he was running, I thought it was kind of a joke, just like rapper Waka Flocka Flame (Waka4Prez all the way). I simply thought there was no way this TV personality was seriously running for the most coveted political office in the country.

After I realized that he was, in fact, serious I had the same thought that many have had. He’s a businessman and that might be beneficial to the United States being that we are obviously struggling financially. With constant tax increases, the dwindling affordability of health care, and an overall economic crisis, I thought his success in the world of business might make him an acceptable candidate.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that his cons outweighed his pros.

Much of my generation is as liberal as they come. They want equality for all. They love free, free, free everything. They also hate when older generations try to tell them how to live. However, I usually find myself in the middle of the conservative-to-liberal spectrum.

I refuse to vote for a candidate based solely on their political party. Where they stand on controversial issues, as well as how I perceive their character, is what will win my vote, even if they belong to a party I do not usually vote for. That being said, although Donald Trump is currently the most highly rated Republican candidate, I can never vote for him. And here’s why.

Throughout this entire election, I have never heard or read a single word from Donald Trump that wasn’t rude, arrogant, or degrading to another person. To say that he is a jackass, for lack of a better word, would be a gross understatement. Although a candidate’s personality is not the most important attribute he or she can have, I think the fact that he doesn’t have a kind bone in his body is something to consider.

Think about what would happen if we had someone like him in office and the stock market collapsed. Hundreds of millions of people would lose everything. Do you think he would be the kind of man to do everything in his power to get those people back on their feet? No. He would sit in his mighty Tower and figure out how to get his own net worth back to its original glory. His primary focus, as it has been throughout the entire election process, would be on himself, leaving the poor and struggling American people to fend for themselves.

He often makes comments suggesting that he wants to restore the Christian faith in America as well as in the government. However, seeing the type of person he is, I would never want someone that practices another religion to look at him and think he is a good representative of what Christianity is supposed to look like. While obviously no one is perfect, he is constantly saying and doing things that reveal that his heart is not one full of love and compassion, which is what being a Christian is all about.

That thought alone is enough to scare me.

Donald Trump loves the media almost as much as he loves himself. And for some ungodly reason, the media loves him in return. What is currently blowing my mind is the fact that he is constantly saying the most outrageous and hateful things towards anyone that stands in his way. Just a few examples:

(These are word-for-word quotes from Donald Trump. If you don’t believe me, look it up).

On Mexican immigrants in the United States:

“They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

About Hillary Clinton:

On sexual assault in the military:

"26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?" -Tweet posted on May 7, 2013.

On his GOP Presidential rival Carly Fiorina:

"Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!" -Televised interview with Fiorina with Rolling Stone.

In response to a supporter asking when Trump was going to get rid of the Muslims:

“A lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and a lot of different things.” -New Hampshire campaign event on Thursday, September 17, 2015.

What does that even mean....?

Is anyone else noticing a pattern here? It is completely possible that he is not as crude and coldhearted as these comments make him appear. He may be saying these things because he knows that it's what will get him the most national media coverage. In that, he is correct.

However, the fact that he can even utter these horrible things out of his narcissistic mind is something I can not and will not tolerate.

I ask that everyone really think about what this man is trying to do, and what he is capable of if he receives the highly respected title of the President of the United States. I honestly believe that he needs to spend time reading the Bible that he so loudly claims to hold dear.

If he is the man we will soon call President, then I will be extremely disappointed in the peoples' decision.

Trump on the female contestants on the Celebrity Apprentice:

"All of the women on the Apprentice have flirted with me---consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected." -The Daily News, March 2004.

To Mr. Trump:

You're right, Donald. That is definitely to be expected...

I hope this article reaches your desk. I would love for you to know that there are young, white females in this country that genuinely notice your appreciation for "bimbos" like me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
