13 Undeniable Signs You Grew Up In Kennesaw, GA
Happy Trails Wild Tales

I'd go out on a limb to say that Kennesaw, Georgia is what one might picture when they think of "suburbia." It was a great place to grow up, and you've got to give good 'ole K-Town some credit. Here's some sure-tell signs that you grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia.

1. You probably live within 15-20 minutes of 4 different high schools.

There's several high schools in the area, and you literally live within 15-20 minutes of all of them really. The zoning and districting was always so confusing, but just somehow made sense.

2. You also probably live about 5 minutes from 2 or more grocery stores.

I live within a few minutes of 2 Publix Shopping Centers and a Kroger. Yeah, you're surrounded by grocery stores.

3. "Wanna just meet somewhere on 41?"

Whether you called it 41 or Cobb Parkway, you spent a fair amount of time here... especially in high school. Ah, Cobb Parkway. It really has everything in terms of restaurants and places to go. You and your friends regularly agreed to meet somewhere along 41... and it was usually some sort of chain restaurant (God bless the Chili's on Cobb Parkway for lots of high school mems). Also, if you didn't meet on 41.... you probably met on Barrett instead.

4. That being said, you and your friends went out to eat for "fun..."

As great as K-Town may be and all, there wasn't always a whole lot to do. When you and your friends got sick of hanging around at someone's house, you just decided to go out to eat or go to the movies.

5. ...Or you hiked K-Mount.

I think I have the rock patterns at Kennesaw Mountain memorized at this point. We all seemed to think going on hikes was fun (which it absolutely is), but the only one local was Kennesaw Mountain really. You've probably hiked this mountain countless times.

"Oh look over there, that's Atlanta!"

6. Going to Target or Town Center Mall? Expect to see 12 people you know.

Ever wanted to catch up with people you knew from high school? Head to Town Center Mall or any Target in your area! I guarantee you'll bump into someone!

7. You may live in a mega neighborhood.

Remember when I said the epitome of suburbia? You may (quite likely) live in a neighborhood with multiple transitions. By that, I mean you live a big neighborhood, but in a smaller division within that neighborhood. Also, there's probably some tennis courts and a pool. Your neighborhood is made up of 4-10 other neighborhoods.

8. Also, everyone knows the names of neighborhoods in the area.

"Oh you live in Brookstone? Yeah, I know somewhere that lives there."

"I live in Legacy Park!"

"Oh yeah, I know where that is."

9. No high school football game was complete without ending the night at Waffle House.

Win or lose, you probably were out at Waffle House after each of your high school football games. Since you live within 15 minutes of all the high schools in the area, though, there was literally *always* a wait, and *everyone* was a high school student in there. Good times.

10. Speaking of, high school football game student sections.

The boys always painted up. Everyone else dressed in theme. The highlight of your week was standing on the bleachers in the student section every Friday night... and throwing baby powder in the air in sync at kickoff.

12. Honestly, the 3rd of July was better than the 4th.

You spent every 3rd of July in downtown Kennesaw for the fireworks. You also used this opportunity to see literally everyone you know, and you looked forward to this every year.

13. Lastly, although it was boring sometimes. You know it was a great place to grow up.

Life wasn't always super exciting here, but life was good. You know there's no other place you really would've wanted to grow up. Even though every time you come home (once you move away, you really start to realize this) you think "seriously... what did we used to do for fun around here...," you have incredible memories in this place.

We love ya, K-town.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
