2015 College Gameday Signs

The countdown has begun to this week's College Gameday and one of the most anticipated games of the season. Two top five ranked teams, Clemson and Louisville will play this Saturday night. The winner of this game will likely win the ACC Atlantic Division, get a chance to play for an ACC Championship, and maybe receive a spot in this year's College Football Playoffs.

Hours before this game happens, this Saturday morning a group of ESPN sports reporters will take over Clemson's Bowman Field for College Gameday. The event is a great time for fans to show their school spirit, trash talk teams, and get excited for an upcoming important game. No matter where College Gameday takes place, whether it be in Clemson, Tuscaloosa, Columbus, Baton Rouge, or elsewhere, you will always see the following ten types of Gameday signs.

1. Signs so simple they are funny

If you know anything about Florida and its large population of grandparents and retired citizens, you'll find this simple, handwritten sign hilarious.

2. A sign referencing a commercial

This sign was inspired by Peyton Manning's new Allstate commercials. Manning was a quarterback at Tennessee long before his seasons with the Broncos, making this Virginia Tech/Tennessee Gameday sign even more clever.

3. Signs bashing a team not even playing in the big game

Just a few weeks ago this Alabama fan showed up at a College Gameday event celebrating the game between LSU and Wisconsin.

4. Signs providing commentary on current news events

This beautiful but simple sign was created right after the Paris shootings last year. In the past few months similar shootings have occurred, making this sign's message even more powerful.

5. Signs referencing a popular television show or movie

Nicholas Cage's National Treasure character may have been successful in taking the Declaration of Independence, but Oklahoma failed to "steal the national championship" last year. The team lost to Clemson in the College Playoffs.

6. A sign making a political statement

I think I know who this sign maker is voting for...

7. A "mom" or "dad" sign

I bet this college student's parents were pleased to see this sign on television. Someone has some explaining to do.

8. A person without a sign but dressed up as a mascot

If you don't feel like making a sign, you can always dress up like a Volunteer, Hokie, or your school's mascot

9. Signs making fun of former players and coaches

Unlike this fan, I'm wishing Tim Tebow all the best as he begins his baseball career.

10. Signs that incorporate the ESPN letters

The classic ESPN acronym signs are probably the easiest to make. During almost every College Gameday the funniest (but not always most politically correct) one is featured on television.

Next time you watch College Gameday on television or show up to the event in person, see if you can find these ten types of signs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
