How to Have a Middle School Relationship

From grades sixth through eight, the average "relationship" lasts about two to four weeks long. The bulk of these weeks are filled with awkward exchanges, folded up notes and the "Can I borrow a pencil?" pick up lines. But, ultimately, you meet the love of your prepubescent life.

With butterflies in your stomach, blood rushing to your cheeks and sweaty palms, you finally get the nerve to...text her?

And they say romance is dead.

Here are the steps to a successful middle school relationship:

Step 1: Fall in love

Look at the cute boy/girl in math class, and that should pretty much do it.

Step 2: Stare at your crush across the lunchroom

Your cheeks should be brighter than the pizza sauce in your lunchbox. Look away quickly if spotted staring.

Step 3: Bump into them in the hallways

The more you physically hurt them, the more they will like you! It's just a fact. It's also a great way to get their attention.

Step 4: Have your friends find out if they like you

Because why should you do it yourself? Duh.

Step 5: Text them

And ask to play "Truth or truth" or "20 questions" obviously.

Step 6: Have your mom drive you to the movies for your first date

Make sure your parents bought your tickets ahead of time.

Step 7: Give them one of your old stuffed animals for your one week anniversary present

Because you don't get enough allowance to buy them anything else.

Step 8: Text them "I love u" after a few days

You can even put a "<3" if you're daring enough.

Step 9: During class, make sure there is at least a 20 foot radius between you and your significant other

Make eye contact from across the room, but under no circumstances speak to them.

Step 10: If you get paired up for an assignment, make a disgusted face so the teacher doesn't know you are dating

How embarrassing would that be?! You may also include a few "ew"s and "ugh"s.

Step 11: Discover a love note that was passed to your best friend from your boyfriend/girlfriend

Your life is ruined.

Step 12: Make your AIM away message a really passive aggressive claim about both of them

"GeT | over | UrSeLF *u kno who u r*"

Step 13: Break up

Through text. I mean there's clearly no other way.

Step 14: Do it all over again in a week

You were too young to date anywa-- wait who's that?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
