Unless you live under a rock, you are fully aware of the Drake vs. Meek Mill rap beef. I won't go into specifics, but according to Twitter, pretty much everyone thought it was a huge deal. My feed was swarmed with Drake supporters trying to end Meek Mill's career (which is well-deserved because Meek Mill's tracks were trash, and WWE got mad at him). Don't get me wrong — I love rap. And I thoroughly enjoyed these disses from Drake and Meek Mill ("Back to Back" is fire). However, a lot of world events happened this week that went unnoticed because of everyone's obsession with the rap feud. If your Twitter feed looked anything like mine these past few days, then you might have missed out on some pretty crazy news, too. Here's what you missed from last week:
1. Dylann Roof plead not guilty to 33 federal charges.
2. The Coast Guard suspended their search for missing Florida teens, Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos, who have been lost at sea for over a week.
3. The air from the New England Patriots' deflated footballs actually inflated Tom Brady's brain and caused quite the trash talk session in the Deflate-gate scandal.
4. The Arizona Cardinals introduced Jen Welter, the NFL's first female football coach.
5. Olivia Quigley, who has stage four breast cancer, won a gold medal in the Special Olympics.
6. As if dentists weren't satanic enough, an American dentist killed the world's beloved Cecil the Lion.
7. Multiple freak accidents involving escalators and elevators in China caused death. China responded accordingly.
For what it's worth, I can only wish Twitter was around at the peak of the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry (even though I was barely alive). Those tweets would have caused the Internet to literally catch fire. We would've missed out on so much news in the '90s, but it would have been well worth it.
