After a break up or rough night, you probably just end up moping around and it usually takes a couple hours to get out of bed, but once you do, all you can think about is going back to bed. If you have depression or anxiety, all of your pent up emotions drain you out, and then you are back in the cycle of another rough night. Another night staying home. Another night without taking care of yourself. Well, here are some tips that finally helped me get out of bed, and may help you. Self care is always important, so make sure you take care of your important self.
1.Eat well
One meal a day is not healthy for you, especially if you’re burning calories while sleeping. You need the vitamins and protein, so you need to snack and eat more. You may think that eating all that junk food may successfully get you out of bed, but do something for yourself, grab a healthy snack- bananas and apples are my go to- but any fruit or vegetable may help.
2. Shower
The oil in your hair will thank you. Wash in cold water if you need to wake up, but a hot shower if you need to relax. If the hot water does not relax you, then take a bath. Wash your body, and cry a little, especially if you need it. It is aways helpful.
3. Drink more water
You probably did not have enough today. (If your pee is yellow or slightly yellow, you need more water!) But do NOT drink it all at once, that will not be helpful. Make sure to drink in increments and drink enough water to keep you hydrated. For most people, it is about eight glasses of water.
4. Do your laundry
Your clothes are piling up, and wearing that sweatshirt for five days straight is not the best idea. The greatest feeling though, is when you pull out a full load of warm clothes to snuggle in, and while you are at it, make sure to make your bed. A clean bed always feels more welcoming.
5. Brush your teeth and hair
Get out of bed. We all know that when you made your bed, you went back inside. So crawl out and check your phone. People may be worried about you, try not to ignore them. People still care about you, and pushing them all away so you can mope again is terrible for you well-being.
6. Go outside
You don’t have to do anything, but you do need some vitamin D. If there is no sun out, then turn on your lights. Open your blinds. A dark room just makes you tired.
7. Spend time with your pet
It makes you feel important and responsible. It will help you. If you don't have a pet, then spend time with yourself or your friends. Either way, it will help you feel important, like you are. And if you are trying to avoid your pets or friends, remember that taking care of your plant is okay too.
8. Get some sleep
Three hours of sleep was not healthy for you, and sleep is not a waste of time. Napping is good for you. Know your body and your sleep limit, but make sure you sleep enough.
9. Spoil yourself
Maybe with something small, a book and a box of chocolates. Or just chocolate.
10. Read a good book
And get out of bed every once in a while to walk around. And eat some chocolate while relaxing with the good book. Chocolate is good, but only a good spoil for yourself if you washed up and got out of bed.
Cleaning yourself and your surroundings is important. Less stress, and more productivity. Everyone has their own pace, but when you take it all in, do it one thing at a time. You are important. So take care of yourself.
