The SEC West has proven to be one of the toughest divisions in the country. Earlier this season, all seven teams were ranked in the AP top 25. Every week is a huge test in the West, and with good reason. We'll project the bowl games after week five.
Alabama: College Football Playoff
After a slow start, the Tide will figure out a way to get back into the College Football Playoff. They lost to Ole Miss last year too, showing that winning the remainder of its regular season games is not impossible. They looked mighty impressive after a 38-10 victory against Georgia, and if they play like that, they will be mighty tough to beat.
Arkansas: Music City Bowl
They didn’t get off to a great start with losses to Toledo and Texas Tech, but they will find their way into a bowl game. They played solid against Tennessee in week five, and I predict that they will finish strong like they did last year. Look for Arkansas to be a serious contender next year in the SEC West.
Auburn: Independence Bowl
A slow season for Auburn, Gus Malzahn and the Tigers will wind up in Shreveport. They have no offensive consistency, and their defense is progressing slowly. However, with the addition of Will Muschamp, they should be a solid squad in a few years.
LSU: Sugar Bowl
LSU had a great season behind sophomore Leonard Fournette, and the Tigers will be rewarded with a game close to their home. The quarterback play isn’t as great as it has been, and that is why the LSU tigers won’t quite be able to get there. I imagine they will have at least 11 wins.
Ole Miss: Cotton Bowl
Ole Miss had a great season, but is bound to have a couple slip-ups late. They got embarrassed by Florida in week five, but should have at least nine wins. Hugh Freeze is doing great things in Oxford, and look for him to be a hot coach on the market in the off season.
Mississippi State: Outback Bowl
Dak Prescott will have a great season, but it is not quite enough to get 10 wins. A morale booster for Dan Mullen, look for Mullen to receive a serious contract extension soon. They had a disappointing loss to Texas A&M at A&M, but had a lot of things to be proud of.
Texas A&M: Texas Bowl
Kevin Sumlin had a great start to the beginning of the season, but we could see him having a few slip-ups late. They had a great victory over MSU in week five, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Alabama vs. A&M game on College Gameday. I could see Texas A&M going to a much better bowl game.
