A lot of people have asked me, "What is like to go to college with your little sister?" Well, overall it is pretty good. When I picked Mines, I didn't think she would follow me. I thought she would go to school in a different state; then, she wanted to go in the same state, and now she is here We have definitely become closer because of going to school together. Here are some of the highlights:
1. You have a very familiar face on campus.
I decided to go to school out of state, so seeing someone I have known for 18 years makes it a lot better. (I'm on the right).
2. You can finally do homework together without having to feel competitive.
I am still holding out that she will switch majors so we have more to bond over. She has already taken different classes than I did and it is really cool to watch her learn.
3. We are in different sororities but have similar feels.
My mom is in a different sorority (Kappa Kappa Gamma). It has been really fun to see how similar and different our sorority experiences are. She's had a huge impact on her sorority in her first year. I know she will do more for them in the future.
4. I get to watch her do college different than I did.
She has gone on many adventures that I wouldn't have done and it has been really cool to watch. She's been to more of Colorado in a few months than I have in a few years. She's made some really great friends that I have helped her grow.
5. She now loves cats. (Well, the one she calls Cat).
Emma loves her too. Delaney has gotten really good at forcing her love.
6. I can always be myself around her.
I know she has seen me at so many different times in my life that I know anything I do now won't stand out or cause her to not like me. Over the years, I have seen her grow and she has always had a good heart. She's also never afraid to be blunt.
7. We have had some fun experiences together (and made sacrifices).
It has been really awesome to hang out with someone without feeling like you have to figure out what they like. I already know. It isn't animated movies with talking animals. She does like skiing.
8. She has been the best sister I could ask for.
I am so crazy grateful that she is my sister and that she has been so positive in my life. She is going to do great things.
Here's to the best sister in the whole wide world. I love you, Delaney.
