1. You always have someone to go out with.
I had difficulty finding a good friend group during my first year at the new school I transferred to. The girls I called “friends" in the beginning of the year weren't reliable. We would go out and some of them would leave others behind at a party or not invite others out at all. One of the greatest things about going to school with your sister is that you always have a reliable person to go out with. There is absolutely no chance your sister is going to leave you behind at 2 a.m. in a gross fraternity basement as the party is winding down. There sure as hell is no way your sister will let you leave with the boy who has been eyeing you all night, but probably won't make sure you get home safely later.
2. You have someone to complain about your schoolwork to.
No one wants to hear about your four exams next week, your jerk of a T.A. who won't stop calling on you when you don't know the answer, or the fact that you haven't slept in days because you procrastinated a little too long. Everyone dreads listening to that friend who is constantly complaining about his or her workload because we are all in college too. We all have an absurd amount of work and stress, we get it. There is no need to be constantly talking about all of this, but for those days when complaining about the work is easier than actually doing it, a sister on campus comes in handy.
3. It is easier to convince Mom and Dad to send you money.
As the semester winds down, unfortunately so do our bank accounts. This is the time when the call to the parents for a little extra money is extremely vital. Whether it is for food, gas, printer ink, or cover to the bar, we all end up doing it. Most of the time when I ask my parents for money, they lecture me on how I should save and spend wisely, but when they have two children asking for money because the difficult semester has drained their bank accounts, it is so much harder to say no. Two starving, needy college students is way more convincing than one!
4. You need your sister.
Many people are hesitant to go to the same college as their siblings. There is something about living together for 18 years that can make you want to get as far away from each other as possible. I can honestly say going to college with my sister has been one of the most amazing experiences. It has brought us closer together and I can't imagine going to school without her. There is nothing like having your sister there through the ups and downs of college, and knowing she can't get rid of you after just four years.
