Salisbury University Freshman Year Bucket List

As once being a SU Freshman I know what it's like. Having to deal with being the newbies in a brand new place all by yourself; It can even be a little scary at first! So here are a few things to help make some friends, or just de-stress from all of the workload. A bucket list to help make the year just a little bit more memorable!

1. Go to Cook Out late at night

This applies to the weekend mostly, but it's an experience all on its own.

2. Go to student night at Stratosphere

This is a great way to hang out with some friends for a little while, while also getting that exercise in! (Plus student night is cheaper!)

3. Spend a weekend in with your roommates

You are going to want to go out every night and go to all of the parties, but every now and again its okay to stay in! Take a minute and just relax and de-stress from all of the homework and just watch a movie with your squad!

4. Take a bunch of pictures with Sammy

Every school has that superstition of taking a picture with their mascot in order to do well every year, and personally I don't wanna find out if it doesn't work. However, you should take random pictures with Sammy anyway! Grab some friends and take some adorable pics.

5. Go to as many sporting events as you can

Considering your tuition and fees have already paid for it!

6. As well as theatre and cultural events

Once again, YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR IT! And all of the people involved would love to see your smiling faces enjoying the show! <3

7. Basically do everything that's free!

Free things are the best things! Being a broke college student, you take anything you can get.

8. Participate in Spring Olympics

It's actually pretty fun, and a great team building exercise for each building!

9. Go to 7-11 at 2am with your friends

Slurpees never tasted better!

10. Try all of the popular foods/drinks at Cool Beans and Gulls Nest

Trying new things can be scary, but it's also delicious.

11. Join at least one club or sport.

This is one of the biggest ways you can make friends on campus that you have things in common with! Whether it is a club, a sport, or even Greek life, you won't regret it!

12. Have a fancy dinner with friends.

Sometimes it's just fun to dress up and hang out with your friends. And just because you dress up really nicely doesn't mean you have to go to a fancy restaurant.

13. Throw a Netflix party and invite everyone in your dorm.

Is there a better way to make some friends than on your floor?

14. Actually study and get good grades

I mean, that is what we are all ultimately here for right?

15. But also,have fun

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
