Ronda Rousey defended her UFC bantamweight title by knocking out opponent Bethe Correia only 34-seconds into the first round of UFC 190 on Saturday night. Rousey remains the undefeated champion with this as her 12th win. In her last four matches, she has totaled only 130 seconds of action before it was called for a knockout or submission. She has had 5 first round wins, which is the most in UFC history.
Her famous armbar has taken out a lot of her competitors, but this fight ended after multiple strikes were thrown at Correia's head knocking her against the ring and ultimately falling on the mat. Rousey set the personal score straight as she took out her mouth piece and yelled "Don't cry" at her competitor, mimicking what Correia had said before the match.
That was just one of the many things Correia had said before the fight, trying to get under Rousey's skin. Back in May, Correia had made a remark about hoping Rousey wouldn't kill herself after their match. This hit home for Rousey, whose father had committed suicide when she was a child. That's what made the fight go from promotional to personal for Rousey and she showed it when she put her opponent to sleep in less than a minute.
It is speculated that Rousey's next fight will be against fellow American Miesha Tate, but Cris "Cyborg" Justino has called her out. Justino hopes to find herself in the same weight class to take away Rousey's title and tell Rousey to "stop running".
