Road trips can be a little bit unbearable, especially when they are for a long distance. The monotonous view of the road mixed with strange smells from various snacks crushed into the carpet and annoying noises from the other road-trippers can make for an unpleasant adventure. However, there is a proven way to combat the curse of a bad road trip.

The solution is an awesome playlist.

A road trip without great music is like mac without the cheese. That being said, in order to have the best time, it is crucial to have the best music possible. So, the question is do you want to be the road trip hero? If so, here are my suggestions for which songs to include in your prefect road trip playlist.

1. The Sing-Along Song

Whether this is “We Are Never Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift or “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepson, it is crucial to include a song that everyone knows (whether they like it or not). Those who love the song will belt it out at the top of their lungs, and those who hate it will sulk (while secretly enjoying themselves, we hope). This song could either be a huge success or an epic failure (imagine what would happen if you were the only one singing along)! Choose wisely, friends.

2. The Dramatic Song

Don’t tell me that you’ve never pretended that you’re the star of a music video and stared dramatically out the window of the car. This song is exactly for that purpose. This is the contemplative, melancholy song that will inspire everyone to gaze off into the distance.

3. The Indie Anthem

This feel-good song will put everyone in the right road trip mindset. There are many good options out there. Judge your audience and pick the best corresponding indie anthem. If you need inspiration, imagine you are parked in a field with some banjos and wide-brimmed hats.

4. The Throwback

"I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want!" A throwback song! "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wannabe", and "Apologize" are all perfect contenders for the throwback song on your playlist. This is perhaps one of the most essential types of songs to include for your road trip. This song will fill your audience with just the right kind of nostalgia that is guaranteed to make everyone smile.

5. The Dangerous Dancing Song

Sometimes, you hear a song that just makes you want to dance. Whether this is a hip-hop song or a Top 40 hit, as long as it makes you move, it is perfect. However, if you are the driver, this song can be a little bit dangerous. Please, use caution when selecting this song.

6. The Song That Everyone Tries to Rap But Can’t

We can't all be Busta Rhymes, but that doesn't mean we can't try. However, there’s always that one guy or gal who shows everyone up.

No matter what songs you decide to choose, get out there and be the hero! I hope your road trip is amazing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
