This year, the National Baseball Hall of Fame will be inducting two new members, longtime Seattle Mariner Ken Griffey, Jr. and offensive powerhouse Mike Piazza. While both players had incredible and long-lasting careers both of them do share one interesting similarity; neither one by the end of their careers had won a World Series. While it shows that winning championships are not necessarily everything in sports, it shows how tough winning at the highest level can be. That being said, here are 10 longtime players in Major League Baseball deserving of a World Series that haven’t obtained one yet.
1. Carlos Beltran
A man who has made the Major League Baseball All-Star Game eight times, Beltran holds the MLB record for postseason career on-base plus slugging. Unfortunately, that hasn't turned into any World Series titles, and he is most well known for striking out to end the 2006 National League Championship Series with the bases loaded.
2. Adrian Beltre
Beltre has been a mainstay in baseball since 1998, but has only been on one team good enough to reach the World Series in the 2011 Texas Rangers. They were one out away from winning it all until the St. Louis Cardinals rallied from behind, eventually going on to win it all in the following game seven.
3. Adrian Gonzalez
Gonzalez has been an offensive weapon on postseason teams each of his last four seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but none of those teams were able to make it past the NLCS.
4. Zach Greinke
Greinke has had one of the best arms in the sport since he burst on the scene in 2004, but to this point he has been unable to be a part of a team that has reached the World Series, let alone win it.
5. Felix Hernandez
As shown above, Hernandez burst on the scene as a teenager back in 2006 and has been thriving ever since. At the same time however, his Seattle Mariners are yet to even make the playoffs since Hernandez's arrival.
6. Clayton Kershaw
Considered by many to be the pitcher in the game since he made his debut, Kershaw's Dodgers have been in the playoffs each of the last four years but have been unable to make it past the NLCS at best.
7. Joe Mauer
Mauer has been the face of the Minnesota Twins for over a decade now, but during each of their playoff runs under Mauer the team has received a first-round exit in the American League Divison Series.
8. Ichiro Suzuki
Most likely to be enshrined in Cooperstown on this list, Ichiro has put together a fantastic and illustrious career. Since his rookie season however, he has only made the playoffs one other time, that with the 2012 New York Yankees.
9. David Wright
Wright has been the captain and face of the New York Mets for years now, and he may have the best chance of getting a title when it comes to this list. The Mets made it to the World Series in 2015 and will look this season to continue the success.
10. Ryan Zimmerman
While Zimmerman has been in Washington, D.C. since the Nationals moved there in 2005, he has only been able to be a part of the postseason culture twice during his career, in 2012 and 2014.
