Whether you call it Dirty Santa, a Yankee Swap, or some other name, the group gift swap is a famous activity among many family members and groups of friends or coworkers. The shopping can be fun, or it can be stressful, and sometimes you leave with a wicked cool gift... or a really lame one. At least Raven understands when it comes to:
1. Searching for a gift.
Honestly, this is one of the most difficult parts. Your gift either has to fit a theme or price-range and each year you never seem to find something as easily as you're hoping.2. Finding the perfect gift.
Huzzah! The perfect gift has been found and a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.3. Arriving to the party.
You're all excited at first. However, you begin to notice that your outstanding gift is looking a little less-than-great next to the beautifully wrapped box and wine-bottle sized bag that are sitting next to it.4. Wondering which one is "that gift."
You know what gift I'm talking about. The gift that no one wants. That's right. It gets opened by some unfortunate pal and then they quickly hand it off to someone else who sighs in disappointment.
5. Picking your number.
The number that you pick determines whether or not you'll get a gift you want or not. Number one or the last number? Life is good. You have number two? Well, better luck next year...6. Choosing the right gift.
Of course things shouldn't be based off of appearance, but when it comes to gift swaps, that's all you've got. When deciding which gift will be the lucky one, you need to consider shape and size. The smaller ones are generally gift cards, whereas the larger ones could be just about anything.
7. Deciding whether or not to swap your gift.
This is definitely one of the toughest decisions of them all.
8. Waiting to see if anyone will swap with you.
*Hides gift and lays low*
Gift swaps are fun, but surely they are nerve-wracking. One tip is to buy something that you'd want, that way, you know there is always one gift you'll like. Let's just hope that no one steals it from you...
